Lots of fun but CROWDED - The toboggan track attracts so many people that some days the wait is 2-3 hours. The staff needs to be better at informing people of the expected wait time so people can plan accordingly.

Nice, but disappointing - Beautiful park, but was very disappointed when we rented a shelter, but then had to each pay money at the gate. We drove in from Ohio, so had to pay more than those that live in Indiana.

Great Staff - We arrived at our non electric camp site that we reserved to find it had no trees at that camping space. We had hammocks and envisioned a different experience. My daughter talked to the person staffing the entrance shack to camping and that person let us know which sites were not reserved and let us look at them and pick the one we wanted. The staff member was super nice in helping us have a better camping experience, she was very nice and seemed sincerely concerned about our request. We are so thankful to her for making our weekend great.

A first time visitor... - The information was very interesting and the decor and exhibits in the visitor center were well planned. The park overall is sadly in need of a do-over. Outdoor signage is faded and difficult to read. Paths are not easy to figure out. Indoor exhibits of artifacts need to be cleaned, fallen items replaced, and new acrylic covers purchased for those that are missing. The lighting in part of the exhibit fades in and out making it difficult to read. I was sad that Indiana allows these conditions to represent our state.

First day of Fall 2015! - First time visitors and what a beautiful park! We will definitely be back. We drove from Lafayette, In, But we never came across a park employee, no one at the gates to take our entry money? Park was quiet, clean, lots to explore and the shelters were very nice.

Outdoorspersons paradise - Love this place so many lakes and places to camp. My boyfriend and I used to go every 4th of July. He is now gone but I have the most wonderful memories.

- Having lived our childhood in Starke County, we saw it with fish of all sizes! Summer 2014 we found the road blocked and marked closed. What a disappointment! Another memory gone.

- A beautiful state park with beautiful wide hiking trails and of course the awesome never ending white sand beach and breathtakingly beautiful sand dunes. Birding there is spectacular. Warblers, the tiniest and among the most colorful of migrating birds rest at this park during migration. This park is our national heritage and it saddens me that it is not in better repair. Took a hike out to the bird observation deck on trail 10 last year and it was a pile of rubble. What an eyesore! This needs to be a non negotiable rebuild. Organize an event and donate the proceeds. Ask for donations from the public, whatever it takes. The boardwalk on trail 2 is not totally accessible either as part of it is underwater. This needs to be rebuilt as well. You get halfway across and need to wade through a swamp or turn around and go back. The disrepair of these two trails is a huge disappointment as they are recommended to be the best trails for birding which is why I selected them prior to starting my hike. There is no reason why the boardwalk could not be wheelchair accessible. Having great trails for birding diversifies the demographics of people attracted to this park. Other states have wheelchair accessible boardwalks for birding. I so hope we can measure up or raise the bar as this is our national landmark not just for the beaches, but for the sand dunes, the wildlife and the beautiful topography as well.

The sign is gone, the lake is dry. - I have called the state and local officials, no one wants to claim or fix this lake, it was the only place Decatur county had for hunting and fishing. Now it is a mud pit and people are dumping truck loads of trash where we used to park. Hopefully someone will step up with some tax dollars and fix this mess.
