Harkness Memorial State Park Japanse Maple Hideaway © Robin McMenamin
The lines and the curvature of this tree is an example of how beauty lies in the imperfect. This tree never runs out of shapes. When it is covered in the summer, it is a perfect hideaway spot. Also, you can pay respects to the animals that once resided on these grounds.

Harkness Memorial State Park The strength of columns © Robin McMenamin
The column divides the view of the mansion. Columns are great symbols of hard work. Harkness park is the true sign of hard work and the luxury to follow afterwards.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Good place to access the river. - Not like the above post, this park is not on the Connecticut river, it is on the Thames river. The CT river is 30 minutes west of this river.
5/16/2020 5:59:07 PM Rocky Neck State Park by Christie Gilluly
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Wildlife is abundant - I frequently ride my bike at Rocky Neck and this week I saw a Green Heron and a female duck with nine babies near the bridge and a female Red Fox walking across the road.
6/20/2018 6:07:36 AM Fort Griswold State Park by GMB
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Folk fought for our freedom - So many people have fought and lost their lives so that we could be free. This fort is a good reminder that we can not take that fact too lightly. We still need to fight injustice!
2/23/2018 11:42:11 AM Cockaponset State Forest by Larry Foss
review rating - 1 to 5 stars As a former empoyee - I relished my employment years of days gone by. One of BEST memories i have.
7/4/2017 5:27:14 AM Above All State Park by EK Images
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Big disappointment - I visited Gillette Castle to find flower beds & pots all gone to weeds. Viewing the plants in the solarium looked stressed & brown. The Castle was closed due to budget restraints, yet the air conditioning was running. The gift shop & food court were open, why? There were only 3 cars in the parking lot. The wall to the pond is falling into itself. It would be better to close the park, than make it an embarrassment. People do travel from all over to find this.

2/22/2017 6:42:10 PM Naugatuck State Forest by Doctor Rocker
review rating - 1 to 5 stars An amazingly enchanted forest retreat - Solitude, scenery, interesting trails, amazing hikes, swimming and fishing holes, a magical wilderness, idyllic picnic potential, great date, worthwhile exploring. Love it!
1/1/2017 3:43:27 PM Gillette Castle State Park by Shoot to thrill
review rating - 1 to 5 stars The Cliffs - If you can find it, it is well off a beaten path. There used to be a bridge near this castle that crossed the river, although it is gone now. There is still however a rock face that was part of the bridge. There just happens to be deep water there, and there are three heights of places to cliff jump. (tallest is 35 ft). Be aware though, you need to use a rope to climb back up. This makes the park amazing.
8/8/2016 8:08:25 AM Harkness Memorial State Park by KT
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Seaside beauty - We were married at Harkness Memorial Park 17 Years ago. At sunset in August the gardens were in full bloom.
11/17/2015 7:32:41 PM Campbell Falls State Park
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Wonderful, peaceful waterfall - We viewed Campbell Falls in October and loved the peaceful place. Our only problem is we used the address given above in our GPS and ended up at Burr Pond/State Park. Can the address be changed above? We should have just followed the directions given.
