George C Waldo State Park is a serene natural retreat spanning 150 acres. It offers hiking trails and fishing opportunities amidst dense woodlands. The park's highlight includes the tranquil Lake Lillinonah where visitors can enjoy boating or simply admire its scenic beauty. Birdwatchers will appreciate diverse species found here while others may find solace sitting on benches scattered throughout the area.
This 150-acre park was established in 1970. It's named after George C Waldo who donated the land. The area is primarily used for hiking and fishing activities today.
Connecticut has made state parks, forests, trails, historic sites and beaches more accessible to our residents so they can enjoy the many attractions and beauty they offer. George C Waldo State Park is located near Ansonia, Bethel and Brewster
- Blue Trail: This is the longest trail in George C Waldo State Park, stretching approximately 7.1 miles round trip. It offers a moderate hike with some steep sections and rocky terrain.
- Yellow Trail: A shorter route of about 2.5 miles, this looped path provides an easy to moderately difficult trek through mixed hardwood forest areas.
- Red Circle Loop: Approximately three-quarters of a mile long, it's perfect for beginners or those looking for a quick stroll amidst nature; features include scenic views over Lake Lillinonah.
- White Square Route: At around two-thirds of a mile lengthwise, this short but challenging track takes hikers uphill towards panoramic vistas overlooking the lake below - ideal for sunrise or sunset hikes.
- Orange Triangle Pathway : Covering roughly half-a-mile distance within dense woodlands area - suitable option if you're seeking solitude during your walk at park premises.
-Purple Diamond Track : An offshoot from main blue trail that stretches nearly one-and-half-miles across undulating terrains offering glimpses into local wildlife habitats along its course while being relatively less crowded than other trails hereabouts

- Start on I-84 W.
- Take exit 39A to merge onto CT-4 W toward Farmington/Unionville.

- Begin at the junction of I91 and Route34 in downtown New Haven.
- Follow Route34 west for about three miles until you reach the intersection with Orange Avenue (Route152).

- Get on I95 N from Tresser Blvd and Canal St
