Maine Parks Visitor Reviews
8/9/2015 7:33:31 PM Mount Blue State Park by Joyce
Great Expectations - We have visited several other state parks this season but this was our first visit to Mount Blue State Park. It wasn't what we expected. First, the chemical toilets/ out houses were loaded with flies and the smell was so bad that they we basically unusable. Secondly, several of the other guests in our area were very loud( well beyond reasonable noise for close quarters) during the day as well as during the quite time. There were children constantly screaming, adults fighting and swearing and car radios blaring. Thought we did see the park rangers drive through a few times, their truck windows were closed. The other parks we visited had camp hosts as well as the rangers who were more visible which seemed to keep the order. To say the least we did not have a relaxing or pleasant experience. I hope that my comment will be taken seriously. Mount Blue is a beautiful area with many great hiking trails. We would like to visit another year but without being assured of a better experience we will not.

Remembering last July 4 - We had a great time in Eastport last year, we stayed in Seaview Campground. The 4th of July celebration was great, I do wish you had not scheduled the storm the next day. We will be back I hope someday and it will be another July 4.

- Wonderful exploring the shore and the pier where we sighted jelly fish! Great place to walk trails and enjoy a picnic lunch in a quiet, secluded place. Stop by Sears Island while in the area!

Disappointing Decisions with no input - It seems that the trails across from teh park entrance are now off limits with no public input or communications. Very disappointing to say the least for those of us who use those trails for walking, running, and biking.

Favorite Family Spot - This park has always been a place we have celebrated holidays, since I was a girl. And the most special event happened this past summer. My daughter and her husband were married there in July. Most Beautiful Wedding, perfect day, beautiful surroundings. You can have the perfect summer wedding in Maine without breaking the bank.

Peace and Quiet - The most amazing thing we enjoyed there was the total absence of background noise. We stayed in a lean to and relaxed. Amazing. Must return soon.

Piece of Heaven - Every summer we look forward to our time at PK. Quiet, clean, friendly. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Maine!

Our favorite place on Earth - all the state parks were re-done several years ago and have wonderful bathroom facilities. great showers in the camping areas. we have gone to all of them. not sure why the above comment mentions outhouses at Popham, that was years ago. Beautiful facilities now, not an outhouse in site. was just there this week. On August 20th, 2013

My favorite beach - Wonderful beach, with picnic areas with grills, clean changing and bath facilites and the BEST campground we have found in the state of Maine!

bathroom issue - Hi, we were at Popham today (5/30/13) and it was quite crowded, but there were only 2 outhouses to serve everyone because the regular bathroom facilities were closed. There were 3 busses with schoolchildren at the park. Can you imagine trying to get 100 kids or so through one outhouse? Sounds like a nightmare to me. If the park is open & admission is being charged, then at least one of the normal restrooms should be open.

- i was a park ranger from 1957 for four season.we had 27 campsites on the lake side, amphitheater loop area.we mowed sides of roads with a grass hand scythe.the ranger station was on the beach where the bathrooms are located.i stayed there until the lake froze and moved to a room at hq. we had 12 wooden rowboats to rent and every year they had to be varnished.what a chore. we put new cedar shingle on the north and south shelte as wel as the large building with fireplace on the beach.. over the years i have visited the park as well as campedthere and it is still the most treasured and beautiful spot i have ever seen
