Bradbury Mountain State Park is a wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon exploring trails, taking in the magnificent view from the summit, or enjoying a picnic under a canopy of trees. One of the original five state parks, Bradbury Mountain was acquired by the Federal government in 1939.

Situated on Route 9 about halfway between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn, the park attracts visitors who enjoy picnicking, hiking and camping on its 590 acres of forested land. Bradbury Mountain is the only state park in southern Maine to offer shared-use trails for horseback riders, mountain bikers and snowmobilers. Snow shoe rentals are available.

Sculpted by a glacier, Bradbury Mountain is the park's most outstanding natural feature. Today the park's forest is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. Fall is a busy time at the park when visitors watch migrating hawks and eagles ride the thermals and enjoy the views of fall foliage from the summit.

Location
Bradbury Mountain State Park is located near Auburn, Brunswick and Falmouth

Picnicking
Bradbury Mountain State Park offers picnic tables and grills. Visitors can enjoy a meal while overlooking the park's scenic views.
Bicycling
Mountain biking is a popular activity, with over 20 miles of trails available for different skill levels.

Be cautious as some paths are challenging and require advanced skills.

The Northern Loop trail offers moderate terrain suitable for intermediate riders.

For beginners, the Tote Road Trail provides an easier ride through beautiful forest landscapes.

Advanced bikers can tackle the rocky Switchback or O Trail which demand technical riding abilities.

Remember to wear helmets at all times while cycling due to uneven terrains and sudden drops on certain routes.

Biking in winter months requires special equipment like fat bikes because of snow conditions.

Always respect other users by yielding right-of-way when necessary; it's shared-use space after all!

Check local weather forecasts before planning your trip - wet conditions may make trails slippery and dangerous.

Trail maps should be consulted regularly during rides to prevent getting lost within this vast area.

Birding
Birdwatchers can enjoy spotting a variety of species, particularly during migration seasons. The park hosts annual Hawk Watch events.

park review stars; one to five Five stars my aunt patooty. It it holds 20 cars which are bullied and frightened by the caretakers. When you go to the park ranger station, a 20-year old kid looks at you with a grin, his green shirt pulled out, and hair literally down to his belt. The most terrifying night of my life. Sleep in your car.
October 6 My namesake Park by Carol Bradbury Willix
park review stars; one to five Sadly I only was to this park approximately 35 years ago, when I had a young family and we always camped. Followed a sign because that was my maiden name. Love reading all the good reviews. I now do not camp but love that I have a namesake Park. Yeah Bradbury.. Hope it is for years to come a great place. Would love for my grandchildren to see this park. Probably not as I live in N.J. and to far to travel. Thank you. Carol
