The lines and the curvature of this tree is an example of how beauty lies in the imperfect. This tree never runs out of shapes. When it is covered in the summer, it is a perfect hideaway spot. Also, you can pay respects to the animals that once resided on these grounds.

The column divides the view of the mansion. Columns are great symbols of hard work. Harkness park is the true sign of hard work and the luxury to follow afterwards.

Excellent for kayaking! - One of the most beautiful lakes in Connecticut!

One of my absolute favorite parks! - Black ROck is a Beautiful park, nestled in a very scenic and beautiful area. There are many interesting and nature rich areas to visit nearby as well as the park itself. I have been a camper there for many years and many of my friends and aquantences have too and we always enjoy our camping trips! The park has beautiful trails, excellent scenery, places to paint, take pictures, fish, swim and just relax at your whim. I have known the staff and rangers to be very helpful, kind, patient and deeply concerned about the safety and well being of all who visit the park and stay in the campground. They are continuously working at improvements in the park including adding cabins and cleaning the bathrooms. The rangers help pick up the carelessly tossed litter as well as dedicatedly monitoring the park and camping areas to assure everyone has a safe, enjoyable stay and that is appreciated by many!

Beautiful - I am an artist and I did an oil painting of the garden with the cherub holding the two ducks in the fountain. It was perfectly beautiful

Hidden gem of CT - This forest is one of the best around - cliffs looking out to scenic views, fantastic hiking, rivers and waterfalls, and almost no one goes here, why? Well, the roads are in such poor condition the state had to close them and it doesn't look like they will plan on any improvements is near future. It's a shame really, it a much better place to visit than Sleeping Giant.

State Forest Under Threat - Please help save our forest. A state proposal has been made to acquire 30 acres of the state forest for a development. We will be so sad to loose such a big part of our state forest and precious heritage. Please read the news on GlastonburyMatters.com. Thank you!

Featured on U-Haul Trucks - Dinosaur State Park is featured on the U-Haul Connecticut truck graphic. This park has a wealth of history and gives us a better look into the time of the dinosaurs.

Great place to take the family - Many great memories at the park. Riding bikes, playing frisbee, horses, beach, hide and seek. Great area.

Great Trails and views - I live just down the street. What a great place to go and hike. Fantastic views and good trails makes for a great day.
Great place to hike - We love it here and hike different segments of the forest 5-6 times a week. It is quiet, not busy, and and has some beautiful spots if you search around a little bit. Great spot for dogs to run free to if they are friendly.

paradise - nature, beauty, relaxation, exercise and fun!
Go for the human, not natural history - Fascinating history as a Cold War military site, with a few pieces of decaying equipment. If you visit at just the right time of summer, you may see lots of salamanders.

I WOULD NOT CAMP HERE AGAIN - The park itself is very presentable. The bathrooms however, were absolutely filthy. The elderly camp Ranger was absolutely miserable and was on search to find campers in violation of even the smallest of rules. If you are used to camping at sites where you do not get bothered if you are not bothering anyone, I would strongly urge you to NOT go to Black Rock State Park.
