Arkansas Parks Visitor Reviews
4/3/2012 3:14:26 PM Crater of Diamonds State Park by Audrey
Great memory - I went here with my dad when I was about 12 and it was an adventure- we had a great time- no diamonds but plenty of other amazing stones. A dirty, muddy, fantastic good time! Kids will love it.
4/3/2012 10:47:57 AM Lost Valley State Park
Need to rebuild bridge at park entrance - I have visited this park in the past and it is an amazingly beautiful place. Unfortunatley, the bridge over the creek at the entrance was washed out in 2011 and not rebuilt. My family and I were unable to cross the creek due to high water in mid-March of 2012.
Now Mississippi River State Park - Arkansas State Parks began management of Bear Creek Lake Rec Area in St Francis National Forest, and it is now called Mississippi River State Park. 14 class AAA lake front campsites with water, 50 amp electric and sewer are located on this beautiful lake south of Marianna, surrounded by the National Forest. Primitive camping is also near by. Great staff, great location. They really take care of you.
alot of history in refuge -

Where Ghosts of the Past Still Live - The park is beautiful and very well kept. The staff are helpful and talkative. Easy to approach. The battlefield only shows part of where the battle of Fort Hindman was fought. The river has claimed the fort and it has changed course so it is difficult to really get a grasp of what happened inside the fort. The battle for the rifle pits is easier to understand as it still exists. I would like to see more signs like those as Vicksburg that show where the different units were located and a description of what happened in the pits. I have been at the post at night and even during the day you can still feel the people who lived there. Winter is the best time to go because being in woods ticks can latch onto you and have me. It still is wonderful place and very peaceful.

Fantastic facilities - Clean, modern, superior RV sites! Level, paved pads, with additional finished tent pads. Bath house is clean, modern, in excellent condition.

Bicyling and when the water is up; Kayak - Trails are mountain biking savvy and Lee Creek is fabulous to play on in the kayak or canoe!
One of our favorite parks! - Beautiful fall foliage greeted us around Halloween last year. So, we are now planning on making this an annual trek! The lodge was wonderful, and the camping was second-to-none!
GREAT FAMILY PARK - Have been more times than we can count. Our children loved when younger and now as college students still love going with us! Get involved in guided hikes/baseball/nightly get togethers. There is something for everyone here. This summer we learned so much about spiders and bats.
No catfish! - We spent a entire day there and didnt catch a single catfish!

Only Park we camp at - We love going to the State Park it is very peaceful, clean, security is great, well lighted, very friendly workers. I would rate White Oak State one of the Best. If you are looking for a place to go and sit and watch the Fish and Ducks right outside your Camper Window then this is the place to go.

Great Fishing Lake - I have been fishing this Lake ever since I was a Kid. I am 47 now and the lake has seen its down falls. I will say that the lake is coming back. I went this past weekend and caught some nice bream. I am really impressed by the size of the bream. This lake is coming back. My hat is off to those who have worked so hard to bring this lake back for family enjoyment. On hot days you can get into the Cypress trees in the shade and stay out of the sun. Nice cool breeze blows through the Cypress Trees to make fishing comfortable. Bring plenty of crickets because you will need them.
Wonderful photographic opportunities. - I took some wonderful pictures there. There is so much to see there. The people are so friendly!

3/25/2011 Pinnacle Mountain State Park by BroGEM
FANTASTIC - Marvelous place to get back to nature; hiking, canoeing, biking, climbing, listening, strolling - something here for everyone and it is 20 minutes from Little Rock
3/24/2011 Pinnacle Mountain State Park by Jerry Meeks
Come back to nature - Marvelous trails from rocky peaks to wetland strolls, magnificent vista, great interpretive programs - PMSP has it all except for overnight facilities - but it is just outside Little Rock
MAGNIFICENT TIME - Visited to see the Elk and we were not disappointed. Even saw some trumpeter swans as an added benefit - The Education Center in Boxley run by AGFC is outstanding
3/18/2011 Lake Catherine State Park by Jen
We love Lake Catherine! - Cabins are comfortable and super-clean, and the staff is wonderful. Even when they are filled to capacity, the cabins are peaceful.

Overlooked Jewel - Beautiful spot and rarely visited except during hunting season. Great birdwatching and nature watching.
Great winter visit - Cold, crisp New Years Day to visit and enjoy this area. Limited guests for a quiet retreat. Beautiful area, clear water. Well kept. Great visit. Recommend

9/1/2010 Ozark National Forest by calamityj
Horseback trailriding wonderland!! - My husband and I enjoy camping at Falling Waters horsecamp and riding the beautiful, but challenging trails near Richland Creek. There are numerous wildlife sightings, gorgeous waterfalls, and some of the most beautiful country in the USA.
8/23/2010 Bull Shoals State Park by David Harrington
Heaven in Arkansas - I have been camping at Bull Shoals State Park each year for past 17 yrs. Without question, it is the nicest State Park in Arkansas, and for trout fishing, excellent camp grounds, with a Park Staff second to none, one of the top spots in all the US!
8/21/2010 Arkansas Post National Memorial by Michael Simons
It was GREAT! - I grew up the Road at Clarendon and this was the first visit with my wife. The State and National parks staff are very friendly and the park is beautiful.
Smell your neighbor! - The campsites at Lake Ouachita State Park are too close to each other. Expect side by side campsites if you visit. When reserving make sure you check which side of your camper has the power cable and specify that you need a site that has the power to match your camper. The lake is great but their campsites are not worth the price. And there are plenty of other places nearby to stay.
7/6/2010 Village Creek State Park by One Camper
Family Campground - Great staff, lot of outdoor activities - swimming, hiking, tennis, basketball, boating etc.. watch for the mosquitos.
great fishing!!! - SO many brim our fingers got raw taking them off the hooks!!
6/16/2010 Lake Ouachita State Park by Dondean
One of our favorite lakes - Miles and miles of clean water, almost 1,000 miles shoreline and 200 islands are undeveloped. Either you stop your boat in middle of the lake for swimming, or on shore for picnic, they are all great.
6/16/2010 Bull Shoals State Park by Dawn in Arkansas
a blast - This is our favorite place to go. The trout fishing is exceptional. lots of good memories at BSSP.
- Excellent state park. Great camping, not too close to other campers/tents. Open area for camping. Somewhat bug controlled. Very clean, newer well kept facilities. Showers a plus. Would camp here again and highly recommend this state park.
5/16/2010 Ozark National Forest by jmac253
Awesome Arkansas - I visited The Richland creek area at the old bridge April 18th. It is such a beautiful place filled with wild flowers and trails. I was fortunate to be there when Dogwoods were in full bloom. Had lunch at the old campground just above the bridge, sadly if is now closed.

A Great Family Place - It is a wonderful place to take your family, grandchildren. We have camped there many times. Full hookups, water, sewer, etc...The pool is wonderful, the children can play on playground equipment at the picnic area if desired or hike or there are lots of educational things planned at the Welcome Center. The best showers/restrooms and very clean. Hard to beat this beautiful place. My grandchildren never want to leave.

Outdoor Paradise!! - The cabins are beautiful as well as the views. Relaxation as its best. Fishing is great, kid frindly atmosphere, plenty of outdoor activities, wildlife etc.. This is an absoloulty amazing place to get away form it all. Staff is friendly and park is well taken care of. Marina is also just as nice as the rest of the park with great viewas from the windows. There are no downsides to this place. AMAZING!!!

1/3/2010 Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge by Shenee Gilbert
If you love nature, this is a must see!! - My husband ans I went to photograph bald eagles and we were not disappointed! We seen so much wildlife! We will be putting Holla Bend on our go to list of places we love to go to. The restrooms provided were very clean and we felt safe using them. The entrance fee of $4 is very reasonable. The map is easy to use and the roads were well maintained. There are many trails to explore but due to a back injury my husband was unable to make the trek on this trip, so the drive-through ease of the park was perfect. And we spotted and photographed our eagle right from the car!! We will be back many times and highly recommend everyone of all ages and abilities to go to the park!!
11/1/2009 White Oak Lake State Park by Txcowgirl
Exceptional - We stayed in our RV with our grandkids and their parents, who tent camped on our site. The park staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The park was very clean and well maintained. It was peaceful and family friendly. The parents took a long ride on the bike trail, and really enjoyed it. This was one of my favorite spots.

Great memories - I spent many wonderful summers at Logoly boy scout camp in the 60s, and now visit to relive those great times. Wow. What a rush. Keep up the good work. Nice exhibits.
5/27/2009 Ouachita National Forest by Sue Girl
Absolute heaven! - Of course I camp with less facilities and that means less people around... Most love their amenities. I grew up camping around here and I love it. The road is hard on tires though. Testimony to two flat tires in two years lol...
Awesome wildlife photography - Im lucky enought to live about 5 min from holla bend cause it is just amazing. If u ever get the chance to go you should.

Our FAVORITE Park! - We live in west central Illinois and try to travel down to Bull Shoals state park for camping at least once every 2 years. With 4 children it is hard to find an inexpensive vacation that has something for everyone, Bull Shoals is the perfect camping/boating/fishing area with wonderfully friendly and helpful employees, (especially the Dock) exceptional public restrooms/shower houses - plus beautiful scenery with many sites and attractions close by that makes it a perfect vactation spot for us!

Great Place for Family - We LOVE Lake Ft. Smith. The pool is wonderful, but it would be nice if guests staying in the park were given a discount. All of the park is extremely clean. Full hook-ups and paved sites are great. Lots to do.
2/18/2009 Old Davidsonville State Park by Anna Nichols
Very nice family park - Very quiet most of the time. It is a place you can bring your children and spend all day walking the trails, picknicking, fishing and observing the wild life. 1/6/2009 Devils Den State Park by kmac
A Classic - Must See - They wont be making campgrounds like this any more. This is one of the great, originals. Clean, well maintained, lots to do and see for all ages. Outdoor pool, river-stream (not a full-blown, dangerous river), tons of great trails - and the caves-rocks are incredible! Paddle boats, awesome playground equipment, restaurant, store, cabins, multiple camping areas.
best hiking! - this park is almost in my back yard and never gets old! no matter what time of the year it always fun to go and play in the caves and climb around on the rocks. the elk in boxley right next to the park are always a favorite as well!

Good for day trips - This is a great park, we have small kids and we are able to spend the day there, If you hike this is a GREAT park... many trails to choose and the difficulty varys with each. But camping on the other hand I was disapointed. Perfect day time spot....
10/1/2008 Poison Springs State Park by SASSYBOOP
ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PARKS FOR HISTORY - IT IS STILL A VERY RUSTIC AREA. HAS NOT BEEN TAMPERED WITH. THE PROPERTY IS THE SAME AS IT WAS IN 1864.
Amazing - The state park @ Lake Ft Smith is absolutely amazing! Everyone who loves the outdoors should go. The only problem is the directions given on the website are terrible. Although all signs on I -540 say get off at Mountainburg, that is a waste of time. The best way to go is to take the Chester Exit, then go east about 1/2 mile to highway 71, then go north(left) about 2miles to the entrance of the park. This will save you 10-15 minutes.
Incredible - Best time to visit is late spring and early fall.
-
A southern Hotspot - This is one of the most beautiful spots in the south, a place of real southern laid-back romance, secluded with a big sky view. Its southern swampy waterway and low water lake is simply enchanting.

6/5/2008 Daisy State Park by Birdy
one of our favorite parks - We had a great tent spot right next to the water where we just walked a few feet and swam or cooled off. Played volleyball, made ice cream with park people. The bathrooms were clean and we had warm water. Very pretty and nice atmosphere. Myself and 4 children went and this year we will include their children. (been a few years)
Nice park and staff with a great attitud - We stayed a few day just after the rv sites were renovated and found it to be wondrefully (very professionally)laid out. The best state park we have ever stayed in. Anticipate returning.
