New Jersey Parks Visitor Reviews
4/17/2012 1:08:39 PM Parvin State Park
A favorite of mine... - Camped at Parvin for the first time in 2011. Went three times...May, June and September. I love the fact that the camping area is located away from the roads, so you can enjoy some peace & quiet (unlike the Atsion campsite @ Wharton). I love hiking the trails and even enjoying my morning coffee at Jaggers Point near the lake, as the sun rises. I will say that unfortunately a lot of trash accumulates around the lake area as the summer goes on, but overall a great camping experience in NJ. Also, I had a paranormal experience (ghost activity?) during my May visit. It may have had something to do with the parks historic past.
2/18/2012 High Point State Park by Fanny
The Best Park - As a child, living just 8 miles from High Point, we swam, picniked, hiked , etc. up at High Point almost daily. Our parents would drive us there and we would swim and explore all day. I love it there and still go there and show people i meet. I Love it.....
12/29/2011 Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge by carole e w.
hear the song of the wild - Is it peace you are looking for,or perhaps the glimpse of a rare bird,or perhaps the smell of the salt air,or even the sand beneath your feet. Climb the towers and open your heart and eyes.
Clean beach, interesting ecosystem - Self-guided tours are excellent. All areas are kept clean. Friendly park staff.
10/28/2011 Spruce Run State Park by YAYA
CAMPING AREA - I LOVE IT I HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH FAMILY,ALOT OF FUN. I STAY FOR THE 4 OF JULY WEEKEND.
10/20/2011 Stokes State Forest by Dawn J. Benko
Wonderful place for scenery/wildlife - This is an absolutely beautiful park with amazing scenery and wildlife. However, Buttermilk Falls, several photos of which are posted on this page, is actually in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area not Stokes State Forest.
10/8/2011 Hacklebarney State Park by Anne
Beautiful Park - Bill and I visited Hacklebarney Park on a warm September day. Loved this beauitiful park and the sound of the rushing water from the Black River. We walked along the paths, climbed the rocks and sat and admired the beautiful surroundings. We will definitely go back in the summer.
Best School Trip Ever - I have such fond memories of my Grice Middle School 6th grade overnight trip to Stokes that I am now going back at age 40 with my husband & kids!
9/2/2011 Swartswood State Park by C.K. Urban, CSW, MSW
A rare gem of a find ! - My friends & I live in the urban areas & I am really not a city girl. I found the park three years ago & we visit every Fourth of July & every Labor Day. This Fourth of July we even went with the threatening skies. It srarted to pour just as we finished eating. The staff is wonderful and pleasant.
8/22/2011 Bass River State Forest by MOMMY BROWN
PLEASE BE CAREFUL - SOMETIME WE AS HUMANS FORGET TO STOP AND THINK. THE WEEKEND OF 8/20/11 A 10 YR OLD WAS STUCK WITH A TROUBLE FISHING HOOK ON THE SIDE OF HIS FACE. SOMEONE DID NOT THINK TO GET THE HOOK OUT OF A TREE. IF YOU MUST FISH PLEASE USE CONNECTORS AND REMOVE THE HOOKS WHEN NOT IN USE.. THIS WEEKEND WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE IN CAMPING AND AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 60 I FOUND THE SERIENTY VERY WELL NEEDED. HOWEVER, THE BATHROOMS NEEDS TO BE CLEANED AT LEAST 4 TIMES A DAY..
8/19/2011 Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge by Bart Erickson
Great place for bird watching. - I love this place. It is one of my favorite places to go birding. If you agree with me go to http://www.livepositively.com/#/americasparks/vote and vote for Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge. Coca-Cola is giving away $100,000 to the winner.
bodine - I have been camping at bodine for 25 years.now i take my grand kids. 25 years ago it was great place to camp now people leaves there trash, and brings there dogs.I really wish the park police could do something, about the dogs
great for even smaller children - this lake is great fo the entire family. you can cook out, even bring your own grill if you prefer to use your own. you can bring your own yard items like balls, play basket ball, go on a boat ride, whatever you enjoy outdoors, and its close to home. and you can go for a quick dip in the lake. its not too big so you can easily see your children playing and there are play grounds all around the park. Excellent, been going there since I was a kid, and now i take my kids to enjoy and have great memories of the lake just like I do..
7/30/2011 Worthington State Forest by Onofrio
Camp sites - Site 16 17 18 21 &22 are the most secluded...
7/22/2011 Spruce Run State Park by arnielynda
Great lake...but not too great bathrooms - Went there camping 2 weekends ago. Lake-side camping was very relaxing. Wish I did not have to use the restrooms/shower rooms though. They really need big time scrubbing.
Nice lake - Very clean lake. Watch the winds out on the lake. It can be dangerous out there when windy.
bears - A bear was able to open the silver bear bins at the backpacker site near sunfish pond- use the brown bins. once he/she started eating it was difficult to scare away.
7/8/2011 Island Beach State Park by Kerry
- My family has been going to this beautiful beach for day trips for many years. The water is clean, the dunes and sand are pristine and the facilities (showers/changing areas) are well kept. Island Beach State Park blows away all of the other overrated beaches like Avalon, Stone Harbor and even Cape May.
7/8/2011 Bass River State Forest by notsatisfied
- We like this camping ground very much, but the toilet facilities was very dirty. I think they need to be cleaned 3 times a day.
7/6/2011 Spruce Run State Park by X.G
Water - I used to love coming to this lake as a child and it seems that as the years go by the water gets dirtier.
Average Campsite - Pros: the staff is very friendly and helpful. Campsites are spacious. Especially the ones by the lake. Locate near grocery / restaurants. Cons: Dirty bathroom / showers. Not enough showers also. Sometimes the line is quite long. No noise control after 10:00. Other campers are still makeing so much noises after 12:00 at nite. the water in lake is very muddy. Also, rental fee for canoe / boat is very expensive.
6/26/2011 Spruce Run State Park by Disgusted
Boat Rentals - Every summer my husband and I take our kids out to the lake at least three times a month and we rent a boat to go fishing. Last week we were shocked to see that all the boats were in terrible conditions, there were no oars in case the engine blew out, and worst of all, not one boat had an anchor!!! The young man seemed very nonchalant when asked about the anchors. He then tied a cinder block to a piece of rope and gave it to us and siad that was the best he can do! I spent the next 4 hours using a stick to push the boat away from rocks while my husband fished. SIGH!!!
6/20/2011 Spruce Run State Park by gthdreyes@aol.com
spruce run park - very nice lake
6/19/2011 Spruce Run State Park by Ted Ibex (Oceanport, NJ)
- I brought my grandchildren (6 and almost 3) to the park and spent most of the day. The kids had a great time in the water, the playground equipment, and the ice cream. The facilities are excellent. The staff friendly and helpful. The cost was reasonable - the car was $10 and the people were free. Keep up the good work.

5/27/2011 Swartswood State Park by Linda in Swartswood, NJ
Our park views threatened - I live within walking distance of Swartswood Park and have gone countless times over the years. I agree that it is an absolute gem of a place but now those breathtaking views from the park are being threatened by a proposed 152-foot Nextel cell tower yards from Little Swartswood Lake. Although it would be erected on private land, it will be visible from all areas of the park, especially Little Swartswood Lake. It would pose a great hazard to the migrating birds that pass through and to the pair of nesting eagles. To see a photo mock-up of what the proposed tower would look like, and for more information, please visit www.noswartswoodtower.com.
5/17/2011 Belleplain State Forest by PHAT LU
IS A WALK ON MEMORY LANE..... - THE BEST PLACE I EVER CAMPED AT AND IT WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST...SHOUT OUT TO MIKE RUSSELL FROM PHAT LU......33RD cmd...
4/17/2011 Parvin State Park by Wendy
Learning about the Flora and Fauna - Every Sunday afternoon a very kind, knowledgeable gentleman takes all who wish to come for a walk around the park and shares his lifetime of learning. One day, a very enthusiastic, teenage birder,David, heard in the white cedar forest the sound of a barr owl. None but our guide had ever heard this sound. This owl is rare and needs specific protected tracts of cedar forests to survive. Parvins apparently still provides such a habitat. Thank you State of New Jersey for continuing to support such a great place for all of us. Thank you Mr. Paul E. Taylor for giving your time and years of experience to our ragtail group.
3/29/2011 Bulls Island State Park by bubba and bubbet

3/28/2011 High Point State Park by Jersey Boy
Excellent for Hiking - With Boy Scout Troop hiking AT south from monument for about 5 hours March 26: trail in excellent shape, beautiful vistas, light snow covered suroundings with occasional grove of scrub pine (reminiscent of Estes Park in CO). A must do/see.

1/17/2011 Belleplain State Forest by Michell ASST CUB MASTER
Excellent Park - spent a lovely cold weeked here with my cub scout pack! The boys all had a great time and the employees made it even more enjoyable to be there, we stayed in the lean toos and were pleasantly surprised on how nice they were! Only one problem with one leantoo where the heater stopped working but they did everything they could to help us!! Very nice and we are booking another weekend really soon!
1/7/2011 Parvin State Park by Christina
Great trails! - My boyfriend and I had our first date at Parvins; walking the trails. It is something that we enjoy doing still and we try to go every year on our anniversary.
1/5/2011 Spruce Run State Park by ruthie62
Wonderful time! - A beautiful park that is less crowded than Round Valley, but the lack of bathrooms is a problem at times. Check out our pictures at: http://www.meetup.com/www-mosaic-gny-org/photos/1028820/
1/5/2011 Round Valley State Park by ruthie62
Fun!!! - We love swimming here! My only drawback is the crowds on the weekends! Check out our photos at: http://www.meetup.com/www-mosaic-gny-org/photos/1001353/

Wonderful neighboring park - Respite nature & so nearby for a meditative hike . . . a local gem for those of us who live along the Raritan bayshore.
10/1/2010 Belleplain State Forest by clairebear
Favorite camping trip - Iam a single mom (due to divorce) and had to be both parents. I have been taking my kids to Bellplain since 1985 and love it. Now I have grandchildren and plan on taking them too. It convient to go to Cape May ZOO or ride into Wildwood and spend the day on the boardwalk and back to camp ground.
9/27/2010 Parvin State Park by marianne
Spent the week in one of the cabins. Lov - We had a great time swimming and kayaking and just chilling.
9/23/2010 Rancocas State Park by CM55
A favorite with the kids - The Pohatan Spring & Fall Festivals are an excellent way to bring native American culture past and present to children & adults. The park is easily accessed. Great for cub scouts & school groups.
9/12/2010 Parvin State Park by Hickman family
Wonderful family gateaway!!! - Our family went to Parvin State Park for years. We enjoyed camping, swimming, fishing all of the widelife that was around, deer, ducks, lovely flowers and great walking paths. We plan to return hopefully this coming year. A Great family adventure and making lots of memories. . .
9/12/2010 High Point State Park by wingleader09
What a Great Park! - I visited High Point State Park for the first time yesterday. What a nice park! Great picnic sites, camp sites and shelters. There are many wonderful trails for enjoying the flora and fauna of NJ as well. As a new resident of the Garden State, I very much appreciated this great park. I will be back!
9/7/2010 Hacklebarney State Park by jonnyd33
do not feed the bears - awesome park
9/6/2010 Hacklebarney State Park by scouter 13 yrs.
Awesome!!! - I just went there today and my favorite part of it was probably climing all of the rocks and boulders!!!
Nice weekend trip - The park is nice with a small lake- about 1 hour to canoe around is plenty. The camp sites are nice- not too close together. I would have liked more hiking trails- we finished all of them in one afternoon. Good for a weekend trip, but I would not spend a full week. Next time we visit I would love to try a Yurt or lean-to!
9/5/2010 Wharton State Forest by art
crowds - i was told goshen pond was a primative campsite and 1 person was there and arrived to find about 40 people and tents every 15 feet and they had outhouses and water pumps! after trying to relax dogs off leash running and barking at everything and people yelling and screaming just ruined my mood!i will never go to that site again!!oddly i had luck in another spot before that but i can`t remember the name(still part of wharton)that was great.
9/1/2010 High Point State Park by karena
lovely, lovely, lovely - If you enjoy quaint mountaintop lakes with a beautiful clean beach, this state park is for you. it also has a monument that you can go that has incredible views. Worth the trip
8/26/2010 Spruce Run State Park by new yorker
Not the best place for a family to go - First time I went there to camp around 1988. Was very nice and qiet years ago, stopped going there about 8 years ago. To crowded, people are to noisy - loud music from radios, alcohol is prohibited but people still drink it in the recreation area as well as camping area.
8/25/2010 Princeton Battlefield State Park by ezhistory.com
Wonderful! - The battlefield is mostly intact which is great. The Clarke house needs work. Part of the battlefield is about to be built on, a shame. Go see it now before the Institute of Advanced Studies builds on it.
8/11/2010 Lebanon State Forest by Raakesh
Great for offroad riding - I have been there a few times now and it is really cool. Various trails are all sand, some are all dirt, some gravel, some grass. Really interesting. Pakim pond is good for family, as it has a pond for fishing, and shelter, grills, water and restrooms. I want to go and stay at a cabin there one day soon.
8/10/2010 Spruce Run State Park by Tehactiv
AMAZING - My family and i have been going to this park since i have been a kid (like 5 or 6)now im 19 and im packing to leave for the park now. We try to go about every year or so and some of my best childhood memories are from Spruce Run. Highly recommended.
Love this Park - We love this park the only issue we have are the restrooms. They need to be a LOT CLEANER.
7/30/2010 Bass River State Forest by Michael Miller
great memories - I have many fond memories of the many summers spent camping at Bass River. I still camp there and visit regularly. I just find the lake, trails, and tranquility, just what a city guy needs to refuel/
7/29/2010 Bass River State Forest by Dilip Patel
Best Parks ever - i took my son here so we can bond a little and we had the best time of our life the lake and the picnic area was beautiful.
7/25/2010 Belleplain State Forest by Walter Lorigiano
Far out and within distance of sea - We have been coming down to Belleplain from Montreal for over 15 years. Mind you, the prices have changed but the hospitality from the staff has always been impeccable, as its surroundings.
7/25/2010 Fort Mott State Park by Jamie
My family and I always go to this place! - I remember one time they had all the gates open.... It was nice. In one part they still have bullets from back then. It's pretty nice. I'm on my way there now.
7/17/2010 Round Valley Recreation Area by Unhappy visitor
Worst Customer service - Rude and arrogant customer service. Nasty behaviour and attitude by NJ state park police and officials July 17, 2010
7/13/2010 Allaire State Park by Maris
Perfect park for beach & more! - We love this park! The location is great and the grounds and facilities are super clean. We have taken 2 long weekend trips in 1 month time and will definitely be repeating our stay for many years to come!

7/2/2010 Wharton State Forest by Jean
Been going here since 1975 - The best place to camp in NJ. Our annual canoeing/camping trip to Bodine field has grown over the years, but the beauty of the forest has not. What started as a child as day trips has grown into a much anticipated yearly camping retreat with family and friends.
6/27/2010 Wawayanda State Park by Sarah
Great Kayaking Experience - Had a great day yesterday. The water is so clear and clean. The beach was very very crowded but other than that we all had a wonderful time!
6/24/2010 Fort Mott State Park by GrW
Nice Coast Artillery - Very nice especially when they do World War II Coast Artillery.
6/16/2010 Wharton State Forest by Karen-S. Jersey
GO-But do not litter please! - Our favorite favorite forest in NJ! So beautiful, pure white sand trails, HUGE Scrub Pines, wonderful smell, it a real beautiful place!!! Be sure to visit the village, spooky mansion and the store, its really awesome. We live here and go year round!!
Favorite park! - We live just a few minutes from this park and we love it! There is a great playground for the little ones and lots of picnic tables for barbeques. The annual reenactment of the Battle of Monmouth is always fun! Loads of trails to hike, too. This is definitely our favorite park!
6/7/2010 Bass River State Forest by DMP
Son loved his first camp experience - My son wanted to know when we were coming back even before we left ....
OK sites - Campground use to be pristine sites in all of NJ! People DO NOT obey rules or care i guess. Garbage was stacked high in an adjacent section of the park. Campsites are littered with trash. No ranger that patrols to check on camp sites. Got people drinking beer doing drugs on river bank. if i could rate this lower i would.
5/28/2010 High Point State Park by taz
childhood to adulthood - i remember going to this park as a child and our family still goes there to this day. it is always clean and quiet...now that i have children i will make it a point to take my children there to experience this beautiful park as i did when i was a child....
5/26/2010 Spruce Run State Park by Janet
Love it!!! - My daughter and I spend so much time here during the summer just swimming. Everyday we spend there feels like a little vacation.
great for family - i love the place. i have been going since i was 5 and now i have my two little ones.
5/21/2010 Round Valley State Park by MILLIE
A family place to relax - Our family like to go there because you can swim at the lake and you can have a barbecue picnic as well. You can fish and go to the mountain as well. It is very clean and safe for the children.
5/19/2010 Jenny Jump State Forest by SuzyQ066
Best Camping Sites - M friends and I have been going to Jenny Jump since 1989. It is one of the nicest places we have been.
5/13/2010 Allaire State Park by Laura Stratton- Pittsburgh PA
Perfect vacation! - Last year when we found Allaire State Park online, we hit the jackpot! We got to combine our two favorite vacation activities--camping and the beach! It will definately become a family vacation tradition.
Nice Beach - Nice beach, pretty view!
5/5/2010 Bass River State Forest by KC --
Great Park, Great Experience - Our outing to Bass River was the first as a family and we had a terrific time. In fact, a woman captured our fishing on the lake in a water color painting and gave it to me and my son as a rememberance of our trip. The Park Police and State police frequented all areas of the park and do routine patrols all hours of the day and night. Very secure, peaceful and overall a nice experience. We were the only ones in the park for a few days until the temp warmed up and other families began to show up. We went during spring break 2010
Adjacent to the National Park Service - The area is surrounded by and adjacent to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park Service
Good choice! - Last year was our first ever camping adventure. Kids loved it! We are going to do it again this year.
one of our favorite parks - The camping sites were very large, and had amazing views of the lake. I can not wait to go back again... however the bathrooms could of been cleaner, other than that i have no complaints except for the fact that im sad to not be there now.
4/19/2010 High Point State Park by Thunder Cat
Unbelievable ! - In a crazy, chaotic, & often stress filled world; High Point State Park is one of the few places that continues to impress me. I can always expect to find something new while on one of the many hikes! There are inconceivable varieties of plants and wildlife. I saw my first porcupine, muskrat, and bald eagle while at HPSP. The park also has impressive camping accomodations, shelters for AT hikers, the beach, HP monument, and the observation deck (right off the scenic drive to the monument). I encourage all to explore nature and beg New Jersey to protect the Division of Parks and Forestry in what is already the most densly populated state.
4/18/2010 Stokes State Forest by Jennifer
The best week EVER - (CROCKETT)I had the best week of my life.I learned alot there and hope to go back again.i hope they dont stop this trip, because you learn soo much and it helped me alot to under stand nature!
Best place for Nature Lovers in NJ - Great Trails and not crowded.
Great - but for the facilities - The place is amazing, water is very inviting, and overall the experience - wonderful! The only reason it does not get a 3 or more star is due to the bath/rest rooms. In Worthington state forest, the facilities are unclean, and the toilet is a natural pit. The one other aspect was the campsite itself. You need to choose your campsite wisely. We had the unfortunate proximity with a family having 4 children, and our desire to wake up listening just to the natural sounds was soon dampened by the chitter-chatter of our young neighbors. If you do not care about these, you will have a ball of a time!
Beautiful park - Are they ever going to bring the Open Air Theater back?
4/10/2010 Round Valley Recreation Area by SwanLaker
- This place holds so many wonderful memories for me!
4/8/2010 Swartswood State Park by Helene in NJ

3/2/2010 Barnegat Lighthouse State Park by Harris Brown
Barnegat Light Birding - If you are a birder or bird photographer as I am, this is a must visit destination during the winter. On the sand dunes you can see Horned Lark, Snow Buntings and Ipswitch Sparrows and in some years Snowy Owl. On the stone jetty Purple Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Dunlin and Ruddy Turnstones are common and very approachable if you take your time. In the water look for Harlequin Ducks, Long-tailed Ducks, Greater Scaup, Red-breasted Mergansers, Loon, Eiders and Scoters. Have fun but be careful on the rocks. Harris Brown
2/23/2010 Stokes State Forest by Mom of JLHx2
Great family fun! - My parents took my brother and I here as kids every summer and I have incredible memories that are very special of Stokes and my family. Last summer my parents took me back, 30 years later, with my children. It was wonderful going back showing my children where we played and explored as kids their age. We had so much fun we are going back this summer. Incredible bonding, lasting memories and stories we will tell and laugh about forever. Just thinking of it makes me smile.
Best place in New Jersey -

1/3/2010 Hacklebarney State Park by Francisco Javier Gonzalez
Wonderful Winter Hike - We live in Maryland, but were in the area visiting relatives. My sister suggested Hacklebarney State Park, and we loved it. It was cold on Monday, December 28, but we enjoyed a nice hike along the length of the white trail, and returning on the red trail. Very quiet, and beautiful streams. It was a big hit with everyone in the family, including the dog. Would love to come back in spring, summer, or fall.
1/2/2010 Parvin State Park by August D
Our favorite park - I have been enjoying Parvin State Park for about 10 years and the last 5 with my two boys. We as a family go at least once a year in early spring. It is by far one of the nicest state parks we have been too. The cabins are rich with history. lakes are fully stocked for fishing and the area is so serene and peaceful. I will keep going back to Parvin as long as I am breathing.
1/2/2010 Bass River State Forest by lovesnature

11/29/2009 Stokes State Forest by marianne
A bit of heaven in NJ!! - I have been camping in Stokes for over 40 years. The forest is intact. The state budget is not. Please write to encourage the powers that be to keep our parks and forests alive. We have only one earth!

10/25/2009 Worthington State Forest by Elaine
Beautiful! Loved it! - The trails are difficult, but worth it. The camp sites are great (we did encounter a bear though - so heed the signs!). Very enjoyable stay. State Park Police are very helpful and do a great job!
humminbirds - love the energy/the beauty//got a visit from hummingbirds // rainbows and butterflies (was in july) going back in october with great friends and misic //fire//nature.....
Beautiful Area - Visited on Sunday, August 30th. There were two fawns over by the soccer field who watched me intently as I walked by. I spoke to them an they turn their heads to listen. I walked to the small pond. There were several toads there. When I came too close, they squeaked and jumped into the water.
8/28/2009 Parvin State Park by The Markley Family
child hood memories - Our family has been going to parvin for over 40 years. It is the family reunion spot. It is so beautiful in the fall. - this place is awesome. the water is so clean. it waas my first time going and i cant wait to go back.
Long time visitor - When I was young we camped at Bass River for two weeks, every other summer for 20 years. I have just re-started that tradition with my family and we just returned from a fabulous weekend trip. The camp sites are nicely spaced and there are multiple bathrooms within walking distance of them all. We had such a great time this weekend that we have already made reservations for the coming holiday weekends.

Great for family fun. - I started going to Swartswood when I was a teenager with my friends, and 30 years later, my sons and I enjoy all the benefits of nature and wildlife Sartswood has to offer. Great campsites, beautiful beach and lake, clean ammenities, the works. Lets you get rid of the electronic gadgets and back to quality family time in an ideal setting and more simple times.

kayak/canoe water trail - Kudos to Jim Fkazak and his lovely wife April who lead us on an unbelievable water trail which they developed through grants. We had a fabulous day not only being instructed on kayaking but the history, ecology and fauna of the area. Please contact them and see if you too can go on a tour par excellance Meg Kane Somerset, NJ
I love this park - I live in north jersey and the nearest park to me is branch brook. I hate it there. It is destroyed by people and its just land now. Round valley is a great spot to check out if you want to fish,herp,camp,swim..almost anything..
7/6/2009 High Point State Park by RJF
Great weekend ! - Over the 4th of July weekend we were at Sawmill Lake at HPSP. The sites have fire rings, picnic tables and individual parking. Flush toilets and water are within walking distance of each and every site. Sawmill is a very well maintained campground, easy for the first timers as well as the seasoned vets. The NJ State Park Police were prevalent and helpful. They curtailed an extremely large group (45+) that had rented several sites next to each other. The group was “invading” and disrupting surrounding campers as well as the camp grounds. The State Park Police helped by addressing all of these issues on the spot. HPSP is a fantastic place to get away to and only a short ride from NJ and NY metropolitan area. 5+ Stars / AAA+
7/5/2009 Spruce Run State Park by john
Letter to the Govenor - My family, all from NJ, arranged us to meet at Spruce Run for a holiday reunion. I must complement the local park supervisors as well as your office on the high quality of the park. The facilities were fine, but even more important to me, the staff was excellent. The lifeguards kept things well under control, but were always friendly and courteous while doing so! I was impressed by how diverse a community was using the park. It offers an affordable day out for an entire family in a warm friendly setting. Thanks

Our perfect spot! - My husband and I were engaged at the park and always love to come back to take a trip down memory lane. We have been married 12 years.
A beautiful peaceful space - It is amazing how close this magnificent space is to Atlantic City. It is one of the most beautiful, serene places of the south Jersey beach area.
Cant believe this is NJ - What a beautiful loaction!! We stayed at the campground over Memorial Day and it was great! The campground was clean and the trail to Sunfish Pond was great. We are planning another trip soon.

Magnificent! - This place is one of our favorite parks in the northeast. The camping is awesome and there are miles of hiking trails. You have the Delaware River on one side and the mountains on the other.
Excellent Park - Excellent park with lots to do -- especially for small children. There are trails, small beach and camping. We visit it multiple times each summer. Highly recommended.
5/31/2009 High Point State Park by Brandi kerekes
Trail took me to NY - Haha, ok so there we were on the monument trail...we were following the green marks on the trees which then ended up taking us on the most rocky trail, and without hiking boot, with our typical everyday sneakers, we followed it and ended up walking right onto a road about 2 hours later. Five cars drive by and they had ny plates..uh oh...so I knocked on the door of a house near by, they told me we were in port jervis, ny and it was a 14 mile walk back if we took the road, so we just hopped back on the trail and walked back, up hill..we were hurting...haha, so it was pretty fun i shall say. Our poor feet would disagree...but I mean, 5 stars all the way, I had a good time!
Great memories - Used to there every summer and camp for week.used to swim in the lake but the beach has since been graveled over. Taking my son camping this summer. I love this place
A jewel worth exploring - Loved it! Lots to do - peaceful, shady, great sights to be seen, and a lovely place to enjoy nature. The trails were wonderful to hike or bike.

Nice hiking, bike riding and other friendly campers!!! I love the all you can eat rib place near by..It is a slice of nature to be enjoyed right here in NJ!!!
- Very beautiful park. Walking down you start to feel the relaxation setting in. Hiking near the small waterfalls and north is great but can be tricky. Best to wear the hiking boots and leave the sneakers at home.
4/25/2009 Cheesequake State Park by Citydwellermissesnature
Full of deer and turkeys! - The hiking trails are fun. I wish the trash situation were more under control, but sadly it is NJ... Do you remember that old Disney cartoon about the litterbugs? What if cheap copies were distributed to everyone who visited a state park one summer?
One of my favorite places to camp - Swartswood has been my favorite retreat. I have been visiting the park for over 15 yrs. The staff and police are always friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. They are one of the many reasons I look forward to returning each year.

Wonderful place to camp - Beautiful camp grounds, clean showers and toilet areas, lots of smaller toileting areas throughout the campgrounds. Stayed on site 13! Beautiful. Recommend 13,14,15! Very vigorous hiking available.
Best in the State - A two mile long campground on the Jersey side of the Delaware River just north of the Delaware Water Gap. Many campsites on the river. Most sites are in wooded areas. Some (the ones around the big open field at the north end of the campground) are sunny, and hot in the summer. This is a great place for your canoe or kayak. A paradise for birders and nature lovers. Bald eagles, deer, and bears are often seen in the area, if not in your campsite. Be sure you heed the rules about the bears and you will enjoy seeing them. The fee quoted in this website is old; be sure to give them a call for current rates.

A LOCAL AND I STILL GO OFTEN - When I was a child I used to horseback ride at Cheesequake. No longer available but you can still have a great time. We go for one night, walk the trails, toast marshmellows, swim in the lake, eat all the ribs we can at a nearby restaurant. Always have a good time and it is close by-save on gas and get in touch with nature.

Breathtaking Site - I have been vacationing on Long Beach Island my entire life. My grandmother owns a waterfront home in Harvey Cedars and I am always exstatic to go back every year. Barnegat Lighthouse is no exception. I have been to see the lighthouse and the park thousands of times and it is always more breathtaking than the last time. I love the history behind the light and will continue to go and see it every year.

Second favorite place in the whole world - There is no place like HPSP and it was getting better every year(except for fireplace inserts at cabins) I go there quite often as --because of the beauty of HPSP I now live in similar surroundings--my first favorite place in the world. What idiots want to close it??

Gorgeous Park - It is fascinating and, at the same time, unique park. Most definitely worth visiting such an exquisite site of gorgeous combination of New Jersey nature and wild life. I owe this thrilling experience of witnessing such a glory of outdoors to my professor Anton Massopust, true nature-loving person and environmentalist and just a great person. Going there is a great chance to have a family picnic, hang out with friends, have BBQ or, simply, get a catch of fresh air and get away and recuperate from all the problems in your life.

A Retreat from City Life - Far enough from city lights to allow for star gazing around the campfire. A dump station, flushed toilets and showers provide a good level of comfort while preserving a rustic environment and discouraging large rigs.
