Beautiful Park - Our 13 year old wanted to go to the DeSoto State Park for her birthday present & are we glad she did!!! We had a cabin over looking the river with Indian Falls beside it. The Log cabin was nice & clean & the views were beautiful!! We traveled about 6 miles through the park to Desoto Falls & we also went to Little River Falls. All the Falls were BEAUTIFUL! We had a Great family time. So glad we made this trip!!! P>S> The food was also good at the Lodge.

1/15/2012 Joe Wheeler State Park by 11 point
Bobby is right! - My wifes family has been comming here every year for a week stay since 1981.Since we been married in 1998 i have came with them. They are fisherman to and bring two or more boats. The boat dock this year was down right dangerous. The dock was leanning to the left bad! We to have asked for a security light so you can see at dark so you dont step on a snake or in something else! Since there is no bathroom or portajohn.I dont think this is to much to ask for. When the lodge & marina are very nice.
First time visiting - We loved the park. The scenery is spectacular. We pitched a tent and just relaxed. Wished we had more time to hike and see the waterfall. Next time.... Thank you park rangers. You made it very friendly...

Favorite place to hike and camp - My family and I(4 of us) love to hike the beautiful trails. My kids love to wade in the streams and waterfalls. Camping here is great, the newly renovated camp grounds are very nice. I would highly recommend DeSoto State Park to anyone who loves the outdoors.
9/21/2011 Joe Wheeler State Park by Linda Warner
Idea to Bobby - Comment to Bobby who visited May 10, 2011. My idea is that someone contact the Boy Scouts of America with this repair need. Surely some young Life Scout would love to take it upon himself to help earn his Eagle badge. This is a State Park after all that we are talking about and we all know how funds are being cut now days. But an Eagle Scout would surely save the day on this one and it would help him out too.

Quiet Camping - Get over it Bobby. We love Joe Wheeler. Are all of you aware of the national cutbacks in funding for our park? Get involved and stop whinning. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Our Favorite Place To Camp - My husband & I have been camping here for years. We LOVE it! Very nice & not too far from local stores. We bring our little dog with us & she loves it, too! LOVE the fact that dogs are allowed!
- Beautiful park and calm peaceful stream. Nice quick get away close to home. Will have to come back soon.
8/8/2011 Joe Wheeler State Park by SelenainTN
Beautiful Park - This was the best state park we have visited. Loved the fact we had sewer hook up and could take a shower in our own camper. We had a 3 camper caravan and was able to stay next to each other. The weekend was wonderful and the people were even better. We loved it so much we are planning to go back for Sept long weekend. :)

7/26/2011 Wind Creek State Park by CharlesS
Great Park! Perfect Lake! - The weekend of July 23, 2011 was our first stay at Wind Creek Park. The central Alabama setting is stunningly beautiful. The park is old, but clean, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. Campers feel safe without being hovered over by staff. Lake Martin is a gem, and Wind Creek provides the perfect setting to enjoy the lake. Other campers were friendly and the feeling is like a large family reunion. Children play everywhere, and the park is dog friendly, so if quiet is what you are after pick a weekday rather than a weekend. This place is busy. The lake is clean and clear. We are camp and boat and were able to anchor our boat just off from the shore, and walk through shallow water to the campsite. The lake bottom is sandy and clean. Some sites have a sea wall which can be slick, however some have a sandy beach and still others have docks. We will definately be back to Wind Creek!
6/9/2011 De Soto State Park by Martin Family
July at De Soto State Park - Our family (about 40 of us) will be having a reunion here in the middle of July. What can we expect the weather to be?
6/3/2011 Lake Guntersville State Park by Debbie Creager
Best park ever. - We have visited this park numerous times over the years and have spent vacations, even a month at a time. The employees and volunteers are great, the atmosphere is so relaxing, the beauty is unbelievable and, for nature lovers, it is the place to be. We have watched breathtaking sunsets over the water, enjoyed catching fish in the huge Lake Guntersville, walked some of the lovely trails and relaxed at a wonderful campfire. I recommend Lake Guntersville State Park for weekend getaways, vacations and day outings. It has something for everybody. Love it. :-)
A really great park - Sorry I am just getting to comment . we came on 10/9/2010 My 3 sons and I went for a few days to fish/swim/ and just relax outside . The park is great,Big roomy site. The new staff came and checked up on us , and even took the trash ! Thanks for a great time , we will be back soon . PS. Fair priced .
5/24/2011 Wind Creek State Park by GASDSDEN AL.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE........BUT - WE HAVE BEEN COMING TO WIND CREEK FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I COULDNT GROW UP FAST ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO BRING MY OWN FAMILY TO THIS GREAT PLACE...BUT COME ON GUYS!!!! MY FAMILY AND I ARE SO DISAPPOINTED.. TIME FOR SOME MAJOR RENAVATIONS. IT BREAKS OUR HEARTS TO SEE OUR PARK LOOK SO RAN DOWN. WE HOPE WE WILL SEE IMPROVEMENT SOON EVEN CABLE RAN TO THE SITES ALSO..WE LOVE OUR PARK NEGLECTED OR NOT...........
Relaxing Place - My family and I visited the park today it truly seemed relaxing and peaceful all in all we had a much needed peaceful and relaxing sunday afternoon at the park.
You will like it. - Love this park. History lives.
5/14/2011 Gulf State Park
Our favorite park!! - This was our first time camping here and definitely will not be our last. Wonderful campground with clean facilities. We were impressed with the friendliness of volunteers and staff. Fantastic pool, beautiful beaches, and great activities area. Truly enjoyed our stay!!
5/10/2011 Joe Wheeler State Park by Bobby
Beautiful place to go EXCEPT... - With loving to fish, we rent a cabin and stay a few days a coule times a yr. Every yr we have seen the boat ramp and dock on the cabin side deteriorate. It has got worse every yr, with promises of repairs every yr, we have seen NONE. It is just about unusable. This is sad! Our complaints go unheard. We are not asking for perfection, just a usable dock and boat ramp, IS THIS TO MUCH TO ASK FOR? We have made numurous phone calls and emails to complain and ask for help in getting this done and it goes to deaf ears. This has continued for the last 4 yrs, all we hear is we are going to repair this dock, and never see anything happen, and this happens after being passed around like phone tag.
Not worth it! - This park was pretty. But that was about it. There was no play area for the kids, the beach was tilled up dirt, and there were alligators all over the place. It is a great place to retire to (many of the occupants had) but if you are going for a weekend, pick another campground.
DINSEY WORLD FOR CAMPERS - WE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE 4 SMALL CHILDREN AND WE STAYED A WEEK HERE. IT WAS THE BEST CAMPING TRIP. WE RODE HORSES , PADDLE BOAT, HIKING , SWIMING , FISHING , THE WATER FALL , BIKE RIDING, WENT TO THE FARM AND ECT. AND WE ALSO HAD SOME RELAX TIME . OAK MT. HAS IT ALL AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL . we will go back aleast once a year
4/16/2011 Blue Springs State Park by Debbie Porter

Family runaway - We have stayed at the Lake in Guntersville numerous times. My family absolutely loves it there. The view is breathtaking and the area is quiet and friendly.. I cant tell you how many times we have gotten up to see Deer just a breath away....it is inspiring.
3/29/2011 Lake Lurleen State Park by forlifecouple
Excellent Place - Words cant describe the peace and tranquility that we received by the sheer nature surrounding this place. My wife and I took a tent and didnt even hook to power though available. We just enjoyed good people, good weather and the most beautiful camping spot in America. We are replanning a trip back soon and several this summer. UTOPIA!
3/25/2011 Wind Creek State Park by Gap1722
Great Time - We spent our Spring Break there with our 5 year old daughter and 18 year old nephew. Both of them enjoyed our time there, fishing, swimming, playing on the playgrounds, biking, hiking, etc. The new bath house was wonderful. Great family place.
Very Nice - A nice relaxing park. Wonderful staff and great prices.
Gorgeous!! - Spent our anniversary here, after wandering in, not knowing much about the area. Amazing views from the bluff-view room balcony, spotting a bald eagle circling above the dining area deck. The view from this Taylor mountain-side Lodge is unsurpassed by anything this side of the Mississippi!
Nature at its best - An absolutely wonderful place to take the kids. Perfect for fishing, boating, and camping.
3/5/2011 Bladon Springs State Park by James
A Great Place to Camp - Camping in Bladon Springs State Park puts you close to nature with it hundreds of acres of wonderful woods and At night you can clearly see all of the stars and sometimes you hear the coyotes howling.
2/18/2011 Tannehill State Park by Jon from Brandon, MS
Best state park in the South - Beautiful. Streams, trees, old steel mill, museum, gift shop with great homemade candies/treats, and the nicest people around. Very relaxing treasure of a place to go unwind. Well worth our out-of-the-way trip to go there.

great time - i went for a getaway and it was nice
1/28/2011 Gulf State Park by ThirdSouth
Dont Ruin With A Luxury Hotel - This park is beautiful and should be enjoyed by all Alabamians, not just those wealthy enough to afford a five-star Ritz-Carlton type hotel like the one Governor Riley tried to ram through with private developers.
when callin dont know what cabin rate is - quoted one rate, booked at that rate, they called back and said would be 20.00 per night more????????

1/8/2011 Rickwood Caverns State Park by RandyJ
- I was probably 12-14 years old when I last visited Rickwood Caverns. I think the admission price back then was about 75 cents.. of course that has been over 40 years ago. I recall the blind cave fish, the pools in the caverns, and the swimming pool being fed from the cave water. I hope to have a family gathering there when the weather warms a bit. Now I have grand children who need this experience. I visited there with the cub scouts and again with our Sunday school class. It was a popular church wide outing.
more attention to detail - A great time and place for my family to meet for Christmas 2010. However, a little more attention to detail in the cabins as to cleaning and fixing things that are broken would help. Also, kitchens not equipped very well. However, would do again. Great park. Staff very helpful
12/16/2010 Chewacla State Park by chrisinauburn
Great hiking for the area - but, bathhouse needs cleaning, playground equipment replaced, and water fountains fixed.

11/16/2010 Wind Creek State Park by loves to camp
been camping there for over 20 years - It is a great campground and they have done LOTS of improvements over the past couple of years. They did close off sections and reworked them. Cutting down old trees and building new cabins and a new bath house. We love to spend Thanksgiving there and will do so again this year. About not allowing dogs. I have never taken my dogs in the past, but have a new dog and will be taking her. She does not bark all the time and is a good dog. If someone has a dog that barks all the time go complain to the park ranger/office. I am sure they will take care of the problem. There is required quite time in the park.
10/28/2010 Little River State Forest by The Hostetters
Wonderful campground - We stayed one night while traveling and had a great time ... if you are looking for an inexpensive place without all the amenities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Asked if we would like firewood and delivered some to our site at no charge. Gave me an extension cord to use for a few hours at no charge .... very accomodating. They do have new management as the state stopped funding the facility and a non profit took it over and all proceeds go to disabled veterans, terminally ill children, etc. If you want a nice quiet peaceful stay in a beautiful setting ([pine forest and 20 acre lake with some hiking or biking trails) give this a try.
10/19/2010 Wind Creek State Park by T&S
A huge diamond in the rough - I agree with this post. (Very nice location. The park needs alot of repairs. Some roads and sites are washed out and patch with gravel. Some sites have no are very little grassy areas. Electric boxes are old and dated. No grills. With some work this would be the best park in the USA.)-- Management needs to do a punch list and get to work. This is a very nice park that needs some good ole fashioned elbow grease. To start with, add some soil to eroded sites and plant some grass. Very clean bath houses. Nicest campers you could ever meet. No barking dogs heard. This park is large enough that a section could be closed for overhaul without affecting the remaining guest.
10/15/2010 Paul M Grist State Park by WT
Beautiful camping - lots of boats! - Stayed two nights in the primitive camping area. Caution: the primitive site is not located near the nature trail as alapark.com suggests; the primitive camp site is directly next to the boat launch ramp. The location of my site was my only reason for not giving this park 5-stars. I camped right on the water and it was beautiful. The site was 15 feet from my truck, vary flat and shaded. I was the only camper during my stay which was great for me. As I said earlier the location of the site near the boat ramp was the ONLY drawback. I woke up Thursday morning near 5:00am to the sound of boat after boat after boat being launched. Some of the people were not too courteous; playing loud music and singing about how cold it was. The noise only lasted until around 7:00am; after that, the place was all mine. that is, until everyone started bringing their boats back in the evening. Park staff were super friendly as well. I highly recommend this park!

9/28/2010 Chattahoochee State Park by S. Holweger
Home Away From Home - We loved this little hidden treasure. My kids had a wonderful time playing in the sand and biking. The care takers were sweet and caring people. The price was a good one at $15.00 a night we stayed a whole week and loved everyday. It is quiet and peaceful out there and I would enjoy revisiting again.
9/28/2010 Rickwood Caverns State Park by The Crowe, Chase and Carters
Fall Family Outing - Our family went a couple of years ago and we are planning to come back in October. We had a blast then and look forward to another great time. Our kids are older now and we have added a few to the group so i know the younger ones will enjoy it as much as the older. See you soon!!!!!
best park we ever stayed in - beautiful, well kept park. Loved it.

lots of fun - our family of 6 went and stayed 3 nights in tent camping, the staff was awesome ,helpful, friendly, curtious, the main park ranger became our friend quickly he does a great job all the things at the park were great.this park staff had just gone through tremendous personal loss of 3 employees just days before our arrival 2 were in critical condition and one had passed the morning we arrived ,but the staff still remained very pleasant etc.. even though i know things were hectic for them thank you for a blast the young family

7/28/2010 Little River State Forest by Norm
Great Park - A favorite place to picnic, swim or fish. Just hope it can remain open.
Hidden Beauties - To enjoy this forest, you need to know where and when to look. Go on the Bartram Trail in late spring & early summer and the magnolia forest will be in bloom. Go on the Tsinia Wildlife Viewing Area trail early in the morning or late at night to see all the animals. Go swimming in the Uphapee or Choctafaula Creek and rest on their beaches. Choose anywhere to camp and go star-gazing. Go fishing in the pond (catfish & bass)or hunting (deer & doves). There is also a shooting range, plenty of wildberries, swamps, and other cool stuff.
First visit for my kids! - I went a lot as child. The last time I went I was in 10th grade. We went for an afternoon of swimming and while the pool is Nice and big, my son was disappointed. he is 3 and just learned how to swim and I didnt want him jumping of the diving board without a life jacket and they refused to let him. Broke his heart! My daughter on the other hand had a great time and is bugging me to take her back. The guy life guard that was there the day we went was very rude and would prefer not go if he would be there again!

7/4/2010 Wind Creek State Park by Ej
4 star camp/park - Its a great place I went there alone to fish and camp and walk the hiking trails its very lovely place, only draw back campsites are to close together and be watchful if your coming in a tent, not all sites accommodate tents very well or is all down hill besides rv pad
upgrade the park - Very nice location. The park needs alot of repairs. Some roads and sites are washed out and patch with gravel. Some sites have no are very little grassy areas. Electric boxes are old and dated. No grills. With some work this would be the best park in the USA.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot - We camp here every year and have never been told that our kids HAVE to sleep in a tent alone, just had to throw that out there.. As for the dogs, there were ALOT of barking and rowdy dogs last year when we were there.. All in all I love this place and plan on camping here every year from now on..

Our home away from home - We love camping here. It is so quiet and secluded but convenient to stores. They have recently upgraded the power. They were supposed to upgrade the water but ran into some problems..maybe they can get them worked out. We would live here year round if they would allow us too.
6/1/2010 Tannehill State Park by steve from houma,la
great week - spent the week at SEC baseball tourney. camped at tannehill and had a great time. location, relaxation, entertainment (civil war reenactment and lucky duck races) were great. people were very friendly and helpful. we will be back.
We enjoyed tremendously - We live in Wetumpka too, and I agree with the previous comment this park is a diamond in the rough. It needs some TLC in the camping area and TLC in the office. I did not get any warm or fuzzies from any of the staff I encountered but other campers were very friendly.
One of my favorite parks to visit! - I was very disapointed this weekend to stay at Wind Creek State Park. I felt like I was sleeping in a dog kennel. Barking dogs everywhere. We arrived 7:30 P.M. in the rain. Rain does not stop us from camping. Our neighbors were loud that night slamming camper doors, talking, and carring on to where we could not sleep. Their dog barked constantly and then other dogs would bark. Yes, I have a dog of my own and I either board her or pay someone to keep her out of respect to other campers trying to have a good time. You might want to consider no dogs allowed.......
5/30/2010 Chattahoochee State Park by foggyday
beautiful park.just not kept up - the laws are not observed.bulldogs are allowed to roam free and with kids ,dangerous, fishing is no good ,and swimming is almost non existing, the wood raft in the water is all but sunk, mosquitters, yeah god, we will be lucky if no one is sick,I would like to know the price for over 65, he charges for things, unreal. bathroom is dirty, no paper,,nature trails have not been kept up it so over grown. oh we paid 15.00 ,a night 2.00 per car or truck ,2.00 for fishing. he charges 15.00 for a pile of wood which is o.k. the fire pit is always full.over all the park is so special for adults and kids just need someone who cares, to look after it...
fishing - we wade the creeks and fish the ponds, not to snakey and catch plenty of catfish, sunfish, and bass
5/24/2010 Wind Creek State Park by Cretia
Our Favorite Park - This was our first time coming to Wind Creek. It was breath taking. I have never seen a lake this big.
Love This Place - I spend many days in this forest hiking, swimming, and camping. I get some amazing photos and it has to be the best place around here to have fun.
do not feed the bears - I think it is a lovely place my only problem is they said we had to put our 5 and 6 yr old in a tent by themselves I feel this is dangerous.. they could wander off or something or somebody could wander in.. no camping this year, sorry
5/18/2010 Blue Springs State Park by Sharyn & Dan

Campers Paradise - I hope and pray that the state can get more funds to keep Little River State Park open;Everyone in the surrounding counties would hate to see it close. There is also people all over the state that attends.I am 40 years old now; I have been going every since I was a baby.I learned how to swim there. Please keep Little River State Park Open.Go to Facebook and pull up Keep Little River State Park Open to look at all of the fans.Hopefully the state will see how much Little River State Park means to each and everyone.

Interesting Hike in the summer. - Tuskegee National Forest is not an extremely exciting region for a family but still worth a hike through. There are only a few trails but it does contain an 8 mile trail through the interior of the forest. Not that great for a tourist but a good site for research concerning Auburn University. Has a few nice campsites and is fairly secluded.
THE BEST CAMPGROUND EVER - Windcreek is the best campground in the world. My grandmother takes me every year we have spring-break at school. Its the week of my birthday and its the best. This year I will be 16(13 more days)and cant wait any longer.Camping my whole life and WCSP beats all.I recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!.....
Wonderful. Beauty and history. -
Our favorite place to be - Paul M. Grist is my second home. I had never been camping until my husband took me in 2003. Here it is now 7 years later and I still camp here. To me there is NOTHING as wonderful as this place. Everything abut it is perfect. Its 100% clean everywhere. No trash anywhere. Bathrooms are always spotless. On the 19th of this month which is March, we wil be headed that way again. We are tent campers, and we camp at Paul Grist twice a year. I would camp there more often, but its a 2 and a half hour drive from where we live. So, for me to drive 2 1/2 hours to camp, that means this is a SPECIAL place. The Rangers there are so friendly too. Hope whoever reads this plans to make a visit to Paul Grist because you WILL NOT regret it an you will have the time of your life. Happy Camping!!!

My favorite place to visit - I love the area. My daughter and I do a one-day visit several times a year AND we stay for the weekend at least once a year. We live in Georgia.
10/21/2009 Cheaha State Park by mmolina
Best Kept Secret in Alabama - The restaurant & cabins are on a cliff side. The views are spectacular. We started coming here with our Boy Scout Troop from Florida. Little has changed in 20 years. The motel is average. The cabins have been newly renovated. If you make a reservation do it well in advance. If you have trouble walking check it the people at the desk. Some of the cabins & chalets have steep steps.
Beautiful Fall - Perfect to bring the whole family to. Beautiful mountains, creeks, waterfalls. Love it.

Wonderful Bike Ride - This park is beautiful, but much more so on a motorcycle. The winding roads & gorgeous scenery make it a wonderful ride. The lake is clean & not far from the park is Lake Chinnabee Falls. It too is a must see - slight hike, but worth every step.

Awesome experiance - It was the most beautiful view to wake up too. We had a cabin on the bluff and it was wonderful!! Went on the Lake Trail. Steep climb! But very much an accomplishment for someone who has never done that before. We would highly recommend it to everyone.
7/6/2009 Bladon Springs State Park by Shmotoes
Wonderful memories were made there. - Every time the dollar store got a new shipment of toy boats, each of my three young sons had to get one; then it was off to Bladon Springs to race them in the icy cold creek at the bottom of the hill. When the boys started turning blue from the cold water, it was time to head up to the swings to see who could go the highest. Of course there was always a contest at the springs to see who could pump the water up out of the ground the fastest. My sons are grown now but they still talk about the fun times we had at Bladon Springs and I know that they will someday take their own children there.

Hello - This is my favorite place in the world. If I could live here I would. Off course I feel a very close conection to nature so that makes a lot of difference. If you are looking for a nice place for photography, hiking, camping, swimming, or a family picnic this is it in North Alabama. The park also contains the Sipsey Wilderness Area, this is a pristen pure environment. There is not only a large number of hiking trails, and waterfalls, there are also various kinds of rare plants. This a very enjoyable place to come to, you will not be disappointed.

Great for family time. - We came with our kids and a friend and just really enjoyed it. We hiked, swam and just really had a great time. Now days you cant take your kids anywhere that is good for them well this place sure was I loved it and already making plans to come back soon.
Good fishing spot to stay at - Restaurant needs better prices along with better food. It would also be nice to have wireless WiFi in the rooms. Replace the TV wiring with new as well as replace those old TV sets. Other than that, its pretty good.

Nice Place - Recently our family spent the weekend camping there. We really enjoyed it. The lake did have alot of action during the day but it was peaceful at night. We will return again!!
4/29/2009 Chattahoochee State Park by B. Vandergriff
Mosquitos - I visited Chattahoochee State Park today with my family and fell in love with the beauty surrounding us. We had intended to do a little fishing, however, the mosquitos were so bad we could not stay more than a few minutes. There were at least 20 to 30 mosquitos on my legs at one time. We had to get back in our van as quickly as we got out it was so bad. I plan to call the park manager before going back to see if anything has been done about the mosquitos. Again, my family and I loved the park and would like to stay and camp but its impossible with the mosquitos as bad as they are.
4/25/2009 Florala State Park by Josh H.
A great recreational lake - Really enjoyed it. Water is clear, there are a ton of places to pull your jetski or boat up on the beach and hang out. The area around the pier is no pets allowed, but just go down a little more towards the east side and you can have your dog. Plenty of shade, picnic tables, grills available. Really had a great time. Will be going back.
4/19/2009 Little River State Forest by Pam Cooper
great place - I took 6 teenagers here for a camping trip and we had a blast. There were people there of all ages having a great time . the water is great and the forrest is beautiful. Everyone working there was very nice. This is only a little more than an hour away from our home and also very reasonable. I know people in their 60 and 70s that say they have many fond memories of the park from their teenage years so there is also history what I would really like to see is more funding for LR as it could use a little refurbishing and I feel it would be money well spent.Thankyou for the good time.

Number One Park On Our List - My family stumbled up this park when we were actually trying to find somewhere to launch our boat and fish away from the muck of West Pont Lake and Lake Lanier in Georgia. We actually went tubing and noticed the Park. So we made reservations to the park and brought our boat and loved it! Great people, clean bathrooms, has a camp store, marina, etc., etc. This is just a wonderful place to camp and boat. I would recommend this to anyone! We just made reservations for this coming weekend, we try to camp here as much as possible - WE LOVE IT!!!

3/14/2009 Lake Lurleen State Park by missinghome
A Great Alabama Park - I spent countless days swimming @ LkLurleen with my 2 sisters, while our momma laid out in the sun to get burnt (haha!). I went paddle-boating and we had family gatherings there at times. It holds some of my best memories even if us girls were made to fish (by our daddy). It was a great place to visit. I live in a northern state now and I will re-visit with a family reunion at Lake Lurleen. It is a great place with lots of things to do.
3/12/2009 Conecuh National Forest by outdoordude
Mountain biking destination - I went on a mild weekend in December and had a great time. This is a good place to go for non-technical riding when it is cold in other areas. There is a nice, non technical, loop of about 12 miles and many miles of FS roads to ride. Great place to ride in the fall and winter.

Love the waterfall - You hear the sounds of water crashing into a pool and muffling the songs of birds. Then the trail opens into a clearing and there it is a lovely waterfall whose waters soothe weary tired feet and whose sound lulls the mind.
1/21/2009 Oak Mountain State Park by Rick Moon NWGA SORBA
Great Moutain Bike Trails - I rode about half the loop before I had a mechincal but I will be stopping in here every time I travel Alabama. It is obvious that the park management and local volunteers have combined for a serious mountain bike experience. Thank you for your work.

Great family time - We surprised our husband, father, grandfather for his 60th birthday in October. The kids played outside, rode bikes, and went to the lake and playground. The cottages were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Great Park - We have not camped here but have been to the park many times just to walk around the lake and the boardwalks they have. It is very peaceful, especially in the fall season. We enjoy going there.
Great Place - I have lived near the mountain my whole life and have hiked all of the mountain. Never staid in-doors there or at a campsite but have camped on the trail countless times. Great Place.

ONE OF THE BEST - We have spend three years in a row at Lake Guntersville State Park. Twice in a lake house, once in a chalet. I should not praise it that much, so I get to keep it for myself. The staff of this park is the BEST, true southern hospitality. Cannot wait to return.
7/28/2008 Rickwood Caverns State Park by Stef
A Great Day Trip - I took my 2 sons to spend the day at Rickwood Caverns as a side stop on the way home from a short vacation. They loved the cave tour and continue to talk about it. Afterwards we swam in the pool which is water pumped from the cave. They thought that was really neat. The pool was great. We hope to visit again some day. It was a pleasant trip.

5/27/2008 Rickwood Caverns State Park by Beth
Pests at the Park - I took my 2 boys in 2007. We camped in our tent. The tour was acceptable, but the boys seemed to know more than the guide. However, we had just come from Mammoth Cave in KY and they really got into the tour there. We had big problems with ants and raccoons. The raccoons kept the boys up all night, as they were afraid that we would be invaded. The ants were terrible! While they loved the pool, neither were pleased with the ant bites about everywhere we stood or sat. The ants got all over our towels from the chairs. I wish this had not been such a problem. However, to please my sons, I would make a return trip. I will just make sure to bring a lot of ant killer and park as far from the trash cans as I could.
Food - The food at the restaurant is excellent, buffet style and great price, what a view!!

Our Favorite Camp site - Coleman Lake is the best..electricty, warm showers, great camp site and most of all Great fishing
5/5/2008 Fort Toulouse State Park by gdeaton963
Great weekend getaway - Just needs some tlc. They need some plumbers and electricians to volunteer their time and supplies and get this place back in good shape. There are some dead trees that need cutting. One fell on our friends this weekend and ripped their awning off. It was lot 36. We live in Wetumpka but camp here all the time.
too many Jet Skis - hard to fish during the day due to all the jet skis but night fishing can be very enjoyable just watch the moon. The Bluegill and Crappie are abundant. Very clean park excellent boardwalk that goes around part of the lake. Florida or Ala license will work there.

Fantastic place for the kids - we visited wcsp last summer for the first time and we had a blast from the beach to the fishing and all the campers were all son polite we are gonna make a return trip at least once a year maybe more i would recommend this park to anyone who just wants to get away from city life for a weekend or more...
4/21/2008 Cheaha State Park by Glenn
Great Location - Great park with a great location. The park has a wonderful view from over 2,000 feet. The facilities are fantastic especially since there is so little room on top of the mountain. The only problem is the park map. The trail map is not correct. The starting points for the trails are not always correct and some trails are not on the map. Also, signs do not mark the beginning of all the trails.
4/21/2008 Oak Mountain State Park by James
Great place for shorter and longer hikes - I spent the better part of a day here with my partner and had a great time. We walked along the short nature trail, learned a lot about efforts of wild animal rehabilitation, and enjoyed the natural setting. The beach, lake, and nature trail were shared by groups of different sizes and ages, all seeming to have an equally good time. I certainly plan to come back to hike the longer trails.

One of our favorites - We came by boat and the marina is wonderful, as are the people here. Golf course and cottages - Wow! On our way to dinner at the Lodge resturaunt now. Great Place! Many stars.
