Picnicking
Hopkinton State Park offers picnic areas with grills, tables and restrooms. Alcohol is prohibited but pets are allowed on leash.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can explore a variety of trails, but should be aware that some are challenging and hilly.

The park's terrain is diverse with both paved paths suitable for casual riders and dirt tracks for mountain bikers.

Cyclists must yield to pedestrians on shared-use pathways as safety measures dictate this protocol.

Off-road biking requires caution due to the presence of rocks, roots, steep inclines or declines in certain areas.

While cycling after dark isn't permitted within the area boundaries; ensure you finish your ride before sunset.

Helmets are mandatory while riding bicycles throughout all designated routes ensuring rider's protection at all times.

Remember not every trail permits bicycling - always check signage before setting off on an unfamiliar path.

Keep in mind that during peak season it may get crowded which could limit speed and maneuverability options.

Be cautious around wildlife encountered along bike routes - maintain respectful distance without disturbing them.
Birding
The park offers diverse habitats for birdwatching, including forests, fields and wetlands. Over 150 species have been spotted here. Birders can spot waterfowl on the reservoir during migration seasons. The forested areas are home to warblers and other songbirds in springtime.

July 11 No Handicap Parking at Ashland Boat Ramp by kate
park review stars; one to five My husband is disabled and in the summer season is unable to access the Ashland State Park area by the boat ramp because there are no handicap assigned parking areas-he has made several inquiries but received no answers-yet a local camp is allowed to park boat trailers where handicap parking should be-he is in a wheelchair and likes to fish but cannot park close enough-frustrating that his inquiry is not taken seriously as I am sure there are others in the same position
July 17 nice park, bad crowd... by Disappointed Mass resident
park review stars; one to five the park offers swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. Should be the ideal family spot on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, we saw public drinking, lewd behavior and even inappopriate treatment of a dog taking place. There seem to be very little oversight by park officials, and I even had to call 911 to get help for an injured bicyclist that appeared intoxicated. My husband and I (attending with 7 kids ages 9-14)left the park disappointed at best, but actually quite upset. This is a beautiful venue in need of crowd control and enforcement of park policies and rules. We will not re-visit any time soon
