Spanning 788 lake acres, Lake Malone captures Kentucky?s beauty in a small package. The lake is enclosed by dramatic 50-foot sandstone bluffs rising above the water?s edge and surrounded by hardwood forests. The park has a campground, marina, beach and hiking trail.

Discover the beautiful landscape of Lake Malone State Park on the 1.5-mile Laurel Trail. This easy-rated hiking trail provides picturesque views of many rock walls, once used as shelters by Native Americans. Mountain laurel, holly, dogwood and wildflowers provide a rich tapestry of native flora. Natural wonders abound in this secluded wilderness!

Camping
Enjoy a symphony of starlight and a chorus of nature camping amid the great outdoors! Over 100 primitive sites are available for tent camping. Twenty campsites are equipped with electric and water hookups to accommodate recreational vehicles. A central service building in the campground offers showers, rest rooms, and a laundry; and for completed camping convenience, campsites have grills and picnic tables.

Open year round. No advance reservations. Check-out by 2 PM, Central time. Pets are allowed if restrained.
Swimming
Need to cool off on a hot summer day? Lake Malone State Park offers the perfect solution - a sand beach. Lifeguard protected swimming is available for endless hours of fun. And, for your convenience, a bathhouse with showers, rest rooms, and a vending area is available.
Boating
The boat dock at Lake Malone State Park is the starting point for a pleasure ride on one of Kentucky?s most beautiful lakes. Seventy-two open slips are available for rental seasonally. At the dock you can stock up with all of your fishing supplies and sandwiches for your lunch. Rental pontoons, fishing boats, and pedal boats are available.

Open May 1 through September 15.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a 788-acre lake, home to species like largemouth bass, crappie and catfish. A valid Kentucky Fishing License is required. Boat ramps are available for use. The park also offers boat rental services if needed.

Lake Malone State Park is located near Greenville, Russellville and Bowling Green

Picnicking
Your family outing will be even more memorable with the beautiful lake views from the parkis two picnic shelters. Both shelters are equipped with rest rooms. The picnic area is in the campground and has picnic tables, grills, rest rooms, and an adjacent playground. Shelters available for rental up to one year in advance.
Trails

Mountain laurel, holly, dogwood, and wildflowers provide a rich tapestry of native flora.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts should be aware that the park does not offer designated bike trails. Caution is advised when biking on hiking paths due to uneven terrain and potential pedestrian traffic. The 1.5-mile Laurel Trail may provide a suitable option for experienced mountain bikers, but it's primarily intended for hikers so cyclists must yield right of way.

Please note: cycling around the lake can prove challenging with steep hills and winding roads; safety precautions are necessary here too.

Remember always wear helmets while riding bikes in this area as per state law requirements.
Birding
Birdwatchers can enjoy spotting various species like the red-tailed hawk, great blue heron and belted kingfisher. The park's diverse habitats attract a wide range of birdlife year-round.

park review stars; one to five I have been fishing all around this state, and i must say, this is one of the most Beautiful lake I have ever seen. Not only is the scenery great, but the fishing is awesome! I was completly blown away by this lake and definatly plan on returning.

Directions
Lake Malone is 22 miles south of Central City. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit at Central City, and take US 431 to KY 973 to the park.
