History of the Area
Dutton Pines State Forest Park, located in Vermont, has a rich history. The park was first established in 1933 as a cooperative project between the state of Vermont and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a federal work relief program during the Great Depression.

At that time, the area where Dutton Pines State Forest Park now stands was heavily logged and the land was degraded due to poor forestry practices. Recognizing the need for reforestation and land restoration, the state and the CCC joined forces to create the park.

Under the supervision of the CCC, young men worked diligently to replant trees, build infrastructure, and address erosion issues. They constructed camps, fire towers, trails, picnic areas, and other recreational facilities, transforming the landscape into a flourishing forest park.
