Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge. The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.

Lindy Point - 45 acres of pristine mountain views into the Blackwater Canyon provide one of the one of the most famous views in all of West Virginia.

Pendleton Falls - Pendleton Falls can be viewed at a roadside pull-off about one-half mile from the Lodge. Like Elakala, these Falls are the cascades of Pendleton Run coming from the park's swimming and boating lake.

August 20 Years of Memories by Carol
I grew up in Tucker County. We had our 1962 Senior Class Prom in the Lodge. It was wondrous! We are spending the summer here and have taken all our visitors to the Falls, the Lodge, Lindy Point, Pendleton Point. It is just spectacular!

This is a beautiful park. With all of the rain lately, the falls had more water coming over it than people have seen in 20 years. The views from the overlooks are breathtaking.

October 21 part of my life by mark
1964 was my first visit staying in the cabins with my parents and grandparents. Have returned many times over the years. My grandparents are gone but the memories we made there will last forever. Is the best that WV has to offer, a true treasure.
September 9 The Falls my favorite hangout by Bob Elyard
I used to ride my bike out there almost every day. I loved the freedom it represented for me. My grandparents owned Likins corner Restaurant and we had visitors from across the country who just loved Blackwater Falls. Even my family made regular trips there throughout the summer. I now live in Alaska, but my memories are still with the falls.
July 21 West Virginia at its finest by John F. Scott
When I was kid, this was my favorite place; I even planted pine trees here as a Boy Scout in the late 50s (and I remember the glorious sounds of the falls when we camped out there). It remains my favorite place in my native state.
