March 4 Beautiful! by Sue
We love to hike in this area...there is always rapid water and small waterfalls. But, today we saw our first black bear just down the road from the hatchery, maybe 1/2 mile. So excited but quickly got back to our car. He was large and looked quite comfy lying next to the creek, probably catching fish. It was a scene I have only seen on t.v. What a day!!

Its been more than 15 years since I have been there, and alot has change. There are wild blackberry bushes everywhere and you can feed the Large trouts in a pond at the beginning of the Hatchery. If you look hard enough you can see the old fish ponds which have now overgrown to look like beautiful forest ponds. Be careful looking for them ground is tricky around them.
