SHAKAMAK STATE PARK
Ready to relax? Let's head for Shakamak. Three man-made lakes offer 400 acres of water for fishing and boating while a new family aquatic center provides swimming fun. About two-thirds of the campsites are in a wooded area, offering cool shade in the summer and beautiful fall colors in autumn. Nearby is a play field area for family fun. A popular feature of the park is the group camp.

1. Shakamak State Park offers three man-made lakes for swimming.
2. The main lake has a large, sandy beach area perfect for sunbathing and picnics.
3. Lifeguards are on duty during peak hours at the designated swimming areas.
4. Swimming is only allowed from sunrise to sunset in marked zones of each lake.
5. No diving or jumping into shallow water sections is permitted due to safety concerns.
6. There's also an aquatic center with a pool that includes waterslides and splash pads suitable for children.
The park offers a variety of boating options across three lakes, totaling 400 acres. Rowboats and paddle boats can be rented for use on these bodies of water. Additionally, electric trolling motors are allowed to assist in navigating the waters more easily. However, gas-powered boat engines aren't permitted within the park's boundaries.
Three lakes offer ample fishing opportunities, with species including largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish. Boat rentals are available for anglers.

Shakamak State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills, three reservable shelters, and a playground for children.
While exploring the park, one can enjoy a leisurely bike ride on paved roads. Off-road biking is not permitted.
The terrain is mostly flat and suitable for all ages. However, be cautious of traffic during peak hours.
There are no designated cycling trails available within this location so stick to established roadways when riding your bicycle.
Remember that helmets are recommended for safety while bicycling in any public area with vehicular traffic present.
Bicycles must yield to pedestrians at all times; please exercise caution and respect other visitors' space as well.
It's important to note there aren't rental services onsite - bring your own equipment if you plan on biking here!
Lastly, always follow posted signage regarding rules or restrictions related specifically towards cyclists throughout the park grounds.
Birdwatchers can enjoy spotting various species around the park's three man-made lakes. The area is home to waterfowl, songbirds and raptors. A bird checklist is available at the property office for enthusiasts. During migration season, rare birds may be spotted in this location.
