Pontiac Recreation Area, with 3,745 acres of a mixture of marshes, ponds, heavy forests, old farm fields, river bottom and lakes that support a variety of animals and excellent hunting. Designated trails throughout the recreation area are available for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking.

Boaters enjoy the lake for cruising, water-skiing and tubing in addition to fishing.

Pontiac Lake Recreation Area is located near Auburn Hills, Berkley and Birmingham

Picnicking
Day-use facilities located on Pontiac Lake provide park visitors with a ball field, 1/3-mile long beach, modern concession stand, boat launch, bathhouse, toilet buildings and picnic areas. Picnic shelters are available on a first come- first-serve basis or they can be reserved and rented on a daily basis.
Horse Area
Horses can be rented for riding on 17 miles of trails. Hay rides, sunset rides and pony rides are also available. Please contact the stables at 248-625-5431 or the park at 248-666-1020 for additional information, hours and current prices.
Trails
A 1.9-mile hiking trail runs from the campground to the beach area.

Bicycling
The 11-mile mountain bike trail has been ranked as one of the "Top 100 Trails" in the United States. Major trail reconstruction has separated equestrians to promote safety for all riders.
Cross-country Skiing
The park is open for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, although there are no established trails or areas for these activities.
Area Attractions
A supervised rifle range with a 25/50/100 yard rifle, pistol and black powder range is available for use by park visitors. There is also a shotgun range and an archery range.

park review stars; one to five Pontiac State Park is never crowded, the beach is clean, water clear, bike + hiking trails well marked. Campground is well maintained. Facilities + grounds well kept. Staff is friendly. Our family has long enjoyed this park, always a pleasant time.
