Knox Farm State Park is the former country estate of Buffalo's renowned Knox Family. It is located adjacent to the historic village of East Aurora, birthplace of the Roycroft Arts Crafts movement and former home of Millard Fillmore. The park's 633 acres are comprised of a variety of habitats, including 400 acres of grasslands pastures and hayfields, and 100 acres of woodlands, ponds and several wetland areas.

Visitors to Knox Farm can observe wildlife, hike, cross-country ski and ride horseback along beautifully scenic nature trails. Nature walks are also offered through a partnership with New York Audubon and the Buffalo Audubon Society, as well as programs offered by state park naturalists. The Knox Farm Visitor Center contains exhibits of historic and natural interest. Biking is allowed in designated areas and horseback riding and driving by permit only.

Picnicking
Knox Farm State Park offers picnic tables and grills for visitors. It's perfect for family gatherings or quiet lunches outdoors.
Bicycling
While biking is permitted, trails are primarily designed for walking and horseback riding. Be mindful of other users.

The park's terrain varies from flat to hilly with some steep sections that may challenge novice cyclists.

There aren't any designated bike rental facilities within the premises; bring your own equipment if you plan on cycling.

Remember, helmets are mandatory in New York State for riders under 14 years old - safety first!

Off-road or mountain biking isn't allowed due to potential damage to natural resources and wildlife habitats.

Please respect all signage indicating restricted areas where bicycles might not be permitted.

Riding after dark is prohibited as there's no lighting along most paths which can pose a risk.

Always stay alert while bicycling since wild animals such as deer could suddenly cross your path unexpectedly.

In winter months, icy conditions make it unsafe so refrain from cycling during this period unless properly equipped.

Birding
The park offers birding opportunities with over 100 species of birds to spot, including migratory and resident types. Birdwatchers can explore various habitats such as woodlands, grasslands, wetlands and ponds. The site is also part of the IBA (Important Bird Area) program due to its significant avian population.
