History of the Area
Indian Mountain State Forest is located in Campbell County, Tennessee. It encompasses an area of approximately 200 acres and is managed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Division of Forestry.

The history of Indian Mountain State Forest dates back to the early 1900s when the region experienced extensive timber harvesting. According to historical records, the area was logged intensively until the 1940s, depleting much of the forest cover. Following the logging activities, the land was abandoned and remained unused for several decades.

In the late 1990s, the Tennessee Division of Forestry recognized the ecological value of the area and initiated efforts to acquire and restore the land. In 1999, the state purchased the property, which was designated as the Indian Mountain State Forest.
