Taughannock Falls State Park's namesake waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the Northeast. Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail. Campsites and cabins overlook Cayuga Lake, with marina, boat launch and beach nearby. A multi-use trail--hiking, cross-country skiing--winds past sledding slopes and natural skating ponds. Boat Launch Site not suitable for any type of sailboat. The park also offers organized activities including tours through the Taughannock Gorge and summer concerts along the lakefront.
Swimming
1. Taughannock Falls State Park offers a public swimming area in Cayuga Lake.
2. Lifeguards are on duty at designated times for safety.
3. Swimming is only allowed when lifeguards are present.
4. The park's beach provides ample space to relax and sunbathe after swimming sessions.
5. No diving or jumping from the falls into the water is permitted due to safety reasons.

Boating
The park offers a marina and boat launch into Cayuga Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. Visitors can rent kayaks or paddleboats for use within the lake's calm waters. Fishing is also permitted in both summer and winter seasons with species such as rainbow trout, bass, perch available to catch.
Fishing
Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy the calm waters of Cayuga Lake. The lake is home to various species like brown trout, rainbow trout, and largemouth bass. Anglers may also catch smallmouth bass or northern pike in this area. Fishing from a boat or shoreline are both possible options for visitors.



Picnicking
1. Taughannock Falls State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills.
2. There are two pavilions available for rent for larger gatherings.
3. Picnic spots offer stunning views of the waterfall, gorge, or lakefront.
4. Some sites have playgrounds nearby to entertain children during picnics.
5. The park also provides facilities such as restrooms near picnic areas.

Bicycling
Cycling is permitted on park roads, but not on hiking trails. Always wear a helmet and follow traffic rules.

The North Rim Trail offers scenic views for cyclists; however, it's steep in places so be careful when riding downhill.

Bike rentals are unavailable within the premises. Visitors must bring their own or rent from nearby facilities outside the area.

Remember that some areas might have heavy pedestrian traffic - always yield to walkers and hikers while biking around these parts.

During winter months, cycling may become challenging due to icy conditions. Check weather forecasts before planning your ride.

Nighttime bicycling isn't recommended as there aren't sufficient lighting fixtures along most routes inside this location.

Keep an eye out for wildlife crossing paths during rides - slow down if necessary to avoid accidents with animals like deer or squirrels.

Lastly, remember: safety first! Enjoy your bike ride responsibly by adhering strictly to all posted signs/rules regarding bicycle use throughout this beautiful locale!
Birding
The park offers a variety of bird-watching opportunities with over 100 species spotted, including waterfowl and songbirds. Birders can explore woodland trails or the lakeshore for sightings. The area is also known as an important migratory stopover point in spring and fall seasons.
