SUNSET ROCK STATE PARK
Sunset Rock State Park is a serene, picturesque natural area. It offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape from its namesake rock formation. The park features lush forests and diverse wildlife, making it an ideal spot for hiking or picnicking. Its tranquil environment provides visitors with a peaceful retreat away from city life.
The park is known for its picturesque views and hiking trails. It was established as a state park in 1955. The land was originally owned by George Dudley Seymour, an attorney and preservationist who donated it to the State of Connecticut upon his death in 1945. Named after Sunset Rock, a prominent feature within the area that offers stunning sunset vistas over Long Island Sound; this has made it popular among hikers and nature enthusiasts alike.
Connecticut has made state parks, forests, trails, historic sites and beaches more accessible to our residents so they can enjoy the many attractions and beauty they offer. Under the Passport to the Parks program, parking fees are now eliminated at Connecticut State Parks for those with Connecticut registered vehicles. You can view the
