 | Located in Washington State's Olympic Peninsula, lies the Olympic National Forest comprised of over 632,000 acres. Hike in a temperate rain forest, drive along scenic Lake Quinault, gather clams from Hood Canal, and enjoy the changing scenery from the Olympic Mountains to the sea.
The Olympic National Forest offers a wide variety of camping experiences and settings. Hike-in and boat-in sites are available as well as traditional vehicle camprounds. Camp next to a peaceful lake, a rushing stream or in a dense conifer forest. Camp in the Olympic rain forest or hike to a beautiful backcountry lake. |

| LAKE QUINAULT LODGE

Location and Access : Travel Highway 101 to South Shore Quinault Lake Road, turn east and drive 2 miles to Lake Quinault Lodge.
Lodge Facilities : Large rustic lodge nestled among towering conifers in the heart of the Quinault Rain Forest (temperate rain forest) on the south shore of Quinault Lake. 31 rooms available in lodge, 16 fireplace units, 36 new lakeside units and 9 annex units. Restaurant, bar, gift shop, indoor swimming pool, sauna, and game room. Small conference room is available. No TVs and phones are available in the lobby.
Season Available : Year around. This is a private commercial resort on the Olympic National Forest under special use permit.
Area Attractions : Walk trails along the south shore of Quinault Lake and Quinault's temperate rain forest. Majestic confer trees, lush understory of ferns, moss, flowers and shrubs surround beautiful Quinault Lake creating a spectacular setting to have a very relaxing vacation. The Quinault Rain Forest Nature Trail is a short 0.5 mile loop trail with several signs interpreting the fascinating features of the temperate rain forest. From the lodge, the nature trail can be reached by hiking the Quinault Loop Trail or by driving south on the South Shore Quinault Lake Road for a short 1-mile distance to the trailhead. Pacific Ranger District's Quinault Office is next to the lodge. Free trail map and information about the area available at the FS office.
Site History : The two-story historic lodge was built in the mid-20s and has welcomed thousands of visitors from all over the world including President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the early 1930s. Due to its popularity, the resort has added over 50 adjacent units to the lodge.
