Surrounded by rural countryside and the Chattahoochee National Forest, this quiet park in northwest Georgia offers outstanding fishing on two stocked lakes. Visitors can hike along three miles of lake loop trails and relax in swings while watching for the many bluebirds that live in the park. Access to the scenic 60-mile Pinhoti Trail is only a 1.6-mile hike from the park. Children especially enjoy the playground, feeding ducks and renting pedal boats. A small campground and four cottages are nestled on tree-covered hillsides. This park was named for Rep. James H. ?Sloppy? Floyd who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1953 until 1974.

Picnicking
James H 'Sloppy' Floyd State Park offers picnic shelters, tables and grills near the lake for a scenic outdoor meal.
Bicycling
The park offers two well-marked trails for biking, each providing a unique experience.

One trail is 3 miles long and winds through hardwood forest, offering moderate difficulty levels.

Another option is the Marble Mine Trail which includes an uphill climb to a beautiful overlook.

Both paths are shared with hikers so caution should be exercised when cycling at high speeds or around blind corners.

Bicyclists must yield to pedestrians on these multi-use tracks as per standard etiquette rules in parks nationwide.

Riders need helmets due to uneven terrain that could potentially cause accidents if not navigated carefully.

Please note bikes aren't available for rent within the park; visitors must bring their own equipment.

Remember: safety first! Always follow posted signs and respect other users of the trails while enjoying your ride.

Birding
The park offers birding opportunities with a variety of species, including warblers and hawks. Birdwatchers can explore two stocked lakes or hike along the Marble Mine trail for sightings. The park is also part of Georgia's Southern Rivers Birding Trail, attracting avid bird watchers.
