Reidsville, Georgia   30453

Reservations: 800-864-7275
This southeast Georgia park is a favorite for picnicking, family reunions and golf. Picnic tables and shelters surround a small lake where visitors can rent pedal boats and fishing boats during warmer months. Docks are available for land-loving anglers, and children will enjoy looking for beaver dams from the observation deck. The park's golf course features a pro shop and junior/senior citizen rates. Gordonia-Alatamaha's unusual name comes from the rare Gordonia tree -- a member of the bay family -- that once grew in the park, plus the original spelling of the nearby Altamaha River.
History of the Area
Established in 1975, the park is located near Reidsville, Georgia. It was named after a rare tree species found within its boundaries - Gordonia Alatamaha or High Shoals Buckthorn.

The park spans over 462 acres and features an array of amenities including a golf course added in 1988. The lake on site was created by damming two creeks flowing through the area.

In addition to recreational activities like fishing and boating, it also offers camping facilities for visitors since inception.

Over time, hiking trails were developed providing opportunities for bird watching due to diverse avian population inhabiting this region.
