Verona Beach State Park, located on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake, is a picnicker's and camper's delight. Shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with an excellent view of the water. The lake, Black Creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps give Verona Beach one of the most diverse aquatic habitats in the Central Region, and well worth a hike on the "Woods and Wetland" nature trail. The winter season hosts snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and ice fishermen. The eastern portion of the park is open for hunting deer, small game, and waterfowl, in season.
Swimming
- Verona Beach State Park offers a sandy beach for swimming.
- Lifeguards are on duty during designated hours in summer months.
- Swimming is only allowed when lifeguards are present.
- The park features shallow water, suitable for children and beginners.
- There's also a bathhouse with changing rooms and restrooms near the swim area.
-The lake can be cold; check local weather before planning your visit.
Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is access to Oneida Lake, the largest lake entirely within New York State, making it ideal for all types of watercraft including motor boats, sailboats and canoes/kayaks. The boat launch site allows easy entry into the waters while fishing enthusiasts will appreciate that this location has been noted as one of Central NY's best walleye fisheries. However, please note that personal watercrafts like jet skis are not permitted in some areas due to local regulations.
Fishing
Anglers can enjoy fishing in Oneida Lake, known for its abundant walleye. Other species include bass and perch. Ice fishing is popular during winter months when conditions permit it. The park also has a boat launch available for those who prefer deep-water angling.

Picnicking
Verona Beach State Park offers picnic tables, grills and pavilions for rent. It's perfect for family gatherings or parties.
Bicycling
Cycling enthusiasts can explore a variety of trails, but be aware that some areas may have rough terrain.

The park offers paved paths ideal for leisurely biking; however, these are shared with pedestrians.

Off-road bikers should exercise caution as the unpaved trails might pose challenges due to roots and rocks.

Bike rentals aren't available on-site so remember to bring your own or rent one before arrival.

During winter months, cycling becomes difficult due to snowfall - consider switching gears towards cross-country skiing instead.

Remember: always wear helmets while riding bikes in this area for safety reasons.
Birding
The park offers birdwatching opportunities with over 100 species of birds, including waterfowl and songbirds. Birders can explore diverse habitats such as wetlands, woodlands and the shoreline area. The winter season attracts snowy owls while spring brings migratory birds.
