Picnicking
Rock Gap State Park offers numerous picnic areas with grills, tables and shelters. Some spots overlook the 243-acre lake.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can explore over 30 miles of trails, but be aware that some are quite challenging.

The Lakeside Loop Trail is a popular option for cyclists; however, it's shared with hikers and runners.

Mountain biking on the Rock Gap trail requires skill due to its steep inclines and rocky terrain.

For those seeking less strenuous rides, consider exploring the park roads which offer scenic views without difficult climbs.

Riders should always wear helmets as safety measures since accidents may occur especially in rugged terrains or during poor weather conditions.

Remember: cycling after dark isn't permitted so plan your ride accordingly to avoid getting caught out late.

Please note that all bikers must adhere strictly to designated paths - off-trail riding is prohibited here.

Lastly, ensure you're prepared with water and snacks because there aren't many facilities along these routes.
Birding
Birdwatching enthusiasts can enjoy spotting a variety of species, including warblers and waterfowl. The park's diverse habitats attract numerous bird types throughout the year. Birders are recommended to visit during spring or fall migration for best sightings. There is also an annual Christmas Bird Count event held within the park boundaries.
