NESTUCCA SPIT STATE PARK
NESTUCCA SPIT STATE PARK
Nestucca Spit State Park is a serene and picturesque natural haven that offers visitors an immersive experience of the Pacific Northwest's coastal beauty. The park features lush forests with towering trees as well as sandy beaches along the Nestucca Bay where one can spot seals basking on sandbars during low tide. It provides several miles of hiking trails winding through dense woods teeming with diverse wildlife leading to panoramic views over the ocean or bay area. This tranquil retreat also allows activities like bird watching, beachcombing for shells and agates, picnicking amidst nature's splendor or simply enjoying peaceful solitude by the sea waves crashing against driftwood-strewn shores.

History of the Area
Located in the Pacific Northwest, this natural reserve is nestled between Nestucca Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as Tillamook who used it for fishing and hunting.

In 1968, Oregon's State Highway Division transferred ownership of a portion of land to its Parks Department which led to establishment of this parkland. This transfer included around two miles stretch along with an adjoining spit that extended into Nestucca Bay.

The state then began developing recreational facilities within these boundaries while preserving its unique ecological features. Over time, hiking trails were established through dense coastal forests leading towards sandy beaches offering panoramic views over ocean waves crashing against rocky shores.

Visitors can explore diverse wildlife habitats including tidal marshes teeming with birdlife or venture onto beach areas where seals often haul out on sandbars at low tide.
