Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park adjoins Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Park and together, comprise more than 1,000 acres. Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park offers a full menu of exhilarating recreational opportunities and activities for visitors of all ages. The numerous trails that thread through the grounds of both Mills and Norrie State Parks are ideal for walking, jogging, hiking, cycling, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing - treating visitors to fabulous views of the Hudson River which runs directly along the parks' western boundaries.

A serene wooded area with glimpses of the river provides an ideal location for camping. Campers will have convenient access to attractions within the park and in nearby towns like Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and Poughkeepsie. There are 46 tent sites and 10 cabins available for rental at the park. Recreational vehicles are also welcome however, the park does not offer hook up facilities. River access is available for campers with boats at the Norrie Marina and at the Norrie Environmental Center. Restroom facilities and showers are located within walking distance.

A marina consisting of slip space and a boat launch ramp is a popular area within the park. There are 145 slips, both fixed piers and floating docks, which are rented on a seasonal basis. Transient boaters are welcome if space allows. The marina also houses showers and a pump out station. For a nominal fee, electrical hookups are available.
Swimming
1. Mills Norrie State Park offers a designated swimming area in the Hudson River.
2. Lifeguards are on duty during summer months for safety.
3. Swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are present.
4. The park also features an Olympic-sized pool with separate areas for adults and children.
5. Pool access requires additional fees beyond regular admission to the state park.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is a marina with boat launch sites, making it easy to get out on the water. Visitors can rent kayaks and rowboats from the park's rental service or bring their own vessels. The Hudson River provides ample space for sailing, motorboating, canoeing and fishing as well.
Fishing
Located in New York, this park offers freshwater fishing with species like largemouth bass and bluegill. Anglers can also catch carp or catfish from the Hudson River shoreline. Ice fishing is permitted during winter months for hardy enthusiasts seeking pike and perch.



Picnicking
Mills Norrie State Park offers picnic tables and grills, perfect for family gatherings. Pavilions are available to rent too.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of trails suitable for different skill levels. Be aware, some paths are steep.

The park offers paved and unpaved routes that wind through scenic forested areas. Exercise caution on uneven terrain.

Riding along the Hudson River provides beautiful views but requires careful navigation due to occasional sharp turns and slopes.

Mountain bikers should be cautious as there are challenging terrains with roots, rocks, and potentially slippery surfaces after rainfalls.

Remember to wear helmets at all times while biking in this area for safety reasons against potential accidents or falls.

Please note: cycling is not allowed everywhere within the premises; respect signage indicating restricted zones.

For those without their own bikes, rentals may be available seasonally - check availability before your visit though!

Lastly remember it's important to follow 'Leave No Trace' principles by keeping tracks clean from litter during rides!
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 80 species spotted, including waterfowl and migratory birds. Birdwatchers can explore various habitats such as forests, fields, marshes and the Hudson River shoreline. The area is also home to bald eagles during winter months.
