Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There are several lakes, including Splitrock Reservoir and Wildcat Ridge Hawk Watch, where you can enjoy canoeing or kayaking. Motorized boats aren't allowed on these waters to maintain the peaceful environment but electric motors are permitted at certain locations like Lake Hopatcong within the area's jurisdiction.
Fishing
In this park, you can fish in Splitrock Reservoir and Wildcat Ridge. Species include largemouth bass and rainbow trout.

You'll also find brown bullhead catfish, yellow perch, sunfish species at the reservoir.

Wildcat Ridge offers brook trout fishing opportunities during spring stocking season.

Ice fishing is an option when conditions are safe on Splitrock Reservoir for winter enthusiasts.

In this location, biking trails are available but they can be challenging due to rocky and steep terrains.

Mountain bikes would be ideal here because of the rugged paths.

The Splitrock Reservoir Loop is a popular 13-mile trail for experienced bikers.

Remember that some areas may not permit bicycling so always check signs or consult park maps beforehand.

Biking at night isn't recommended as there's limited visibility in forested areas and no lighting on most trails.

Ensure you have proper safety gear including helmets, knee pads, elbow guards before embarking on your ride.

Always stay alert for wildlife crossing your path while cycling through these natural surroundings.
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 200 species spotted, including warblers and raptors. It features a variety of habitats such as forests, wetlands, and lakes attracting different birds. Birdwatchers can explore the trails for optimal viewing spots or participate in organized bird walks.
Area Attractions
Farny Natural Area (589 acres)

The natural area lies adjacent to Splitrock Reservoir and supports a mature mixed oak hardwood forest characteristic of the Highlands physiographic province. Tall red, white and black oaks dominate the forest canopy, which also serves as habitat for the endangered red-shouldered hawk and threatened barred owl. Numerous trails cross the natural area.
