History of the Area
The area where Casey State Park Picnic Area now stands was once inhabited by Native American tribes who recognized its abundance of resources and serene surroundings. These indigenous communities lived off the land, utilizing its rivers for fishing and gathering food from nearby forests.

In more recent times, European settlers arrived in Oregon during the mid-19th century seeking new opportunities on America's western frontier. As they explored these lands, they too were captivated by their scenic splendor. Recognizing its potential as a recreational space for future generations to enjoy nature's wonders firsthand, efforts began to establish what is now known as Casey State Park Picnic Area.

Over time, local conservationists worked tirelessly alongside government officials to protect this pristine landscape from development pressures while ensuring public access remained available. The park gradually expanded through various acquisitions until reaching its current size today.
