Blue Licks Battlefield State Park

Throughout history, the salt springs at Blue Licks State Park have attracted prehistoric animals, Indians and pioneers such as the legendary Daniel Boone. Many 19th-century southerners came to the area seeking the rejuvenation of the therapeutic, bubbling waters.

Blue Licks is more widely known, however, as the site of the last Revolutionary War battle in Kentucky. In 1782, Kentuckians engaged Indians and British soldiers near the Licking River. Outnumbered, Kentucky suffered great losses, including one of Boone's sons. Boone's words, "Enough of honour cannot be paid," are inscribed on the monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers in the Battle of Blue Licks.

Visit the Pioneer Museum to learn more about the fascinating history of Blue Licks State Park.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
January 20 closed by Cathy with hope.
I was shocked to find the restrooms closed. We travel from Tenn to Ohio monthly with our 4 dogs and this place was always been on our stopping list. We can not find the words to express the shock of finding the State Park rest rooms closed, not once but 3 times since early December. They have NO posting outside the park or inside the the park. Please post when will the rest rooms be open again or will they????

We ended up at this park by accident one day on the way back from Winchester KY to our home in Ohio out on the road about a mile down from Blue Licks someone pulled out in front of us and we blew a brake line we limped the camper back to Blue Licks and met a wonderful staff member who let us use a site till our help arrived. Very clean and tidy a wonderful experiece even though we were broke down, I definately plan on going back!
July 12 A Lot of History by kystateparktravel
My sisters and I stayed here several years ago. This was the first stop on our list of Ky State Parks to visit. The place was being remodeled due to a fire and it still was very nice. There is much history here. The rooms were clean and nice, the pool was nearby and the food was not bad. I am sure it is even better now.
