William Mitchell State Park is a popular camping, fishing and boating destination. The 334-acre park is situated between Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac and provides an excellent opportunity to view a variety of wildlife on the outskirts of Cadillac. The park was officially dedicated in 1919. A historic canal connects the two lakes and runs directly through the park.

The Heritage Nature Trail starts at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center and is about 2.5 miles in length. The trail is actually a study area that supports a variety of plants and wildlife, including whitetail deer, wild turkeys, beavers, great blue heron and other species of waterfowl. The trail is mostly a woodchip path with bridges and boardwalks for an easy hike around the wetland areas.

We decided to camp for the first time here last year and had so much fun. There are so many great activities for the kids and they love to be able to fish all day on the channel. We are excited and looking forward to going even longer this year! :)

This campground has brought many good times to my family when i was a kid ,now i am glad i can share it with my family and my son. once a happy camper always a happy camper and you pass it on and on just like my parents did!

July 28 Our favorite park!!
My family has been coming here since I was a kid. The place has been updated since then. The bathrooms are newer and clean, which is hard to find at a camping place. If you love to fish there is a canal to fish off that connects two lakes (you can fish off those as well). I just love this place!!
