October 1 Back Country Horse Riding at Its BEST by Lynn
I have been riding the horse trails in Uwharrie for 17 years. Yes, they are challenging, but that is the backwoods experience that most horseback Trail Riders are craving, not the manicured trails like at other parks and forests. Always something new to see every time I camp. Canebrake Horse Camp is a very nice facility. Have noticed some nice upgrades in the last year or two. Found that there is now a chapter of Back Country Horsemen in the forest helping to maintain the campground and the trails. WAY TO GO!

everytime we go we find something new to do. Fishing off pier, camping in woods, hiking, now for some gold panning next trip. then the atvs. peaceful untouched forest, GREAT place to go.
September 27 Great Get Away by DZ302
I stayed in Badin Lake Campground. I had a very nice site, some were too open and too close to other sites for my liking. I biked to the other campgrounds and they were very nice too. Unpaved roads could be a nuisance with dust. The campground host checking registration around 10:30 at night was disturbing, but he was a nice guy. Daylight hours are far more appropriate.
September 6 Echanting landscape and fantastic riding by Nicky
Uwharrie is one of those landscapes where time stands still. You can feel 500 million years of history as you ride through ancient river valleys, atop once towering mountains and through lush green pine forest. Uwharrie has become on of my staples for horse trail riding. The trails can be challenging and appeal to both the day rider and the hard-core adventurer! Uwharrie is a North Carolina treasure!
July 19 Family area by Dennis
I have been going up there for 20 years, have never been disipointed, always have a great time, have wheeled all of the trails, and know most of the forest service workers, Arrow head camp ground is nice great hostin Janet, Badan lake camp is more to my liking love waking up in the morning looking over the lake, have even stayed on the trails lots of great places to stay.

September 26 Amazing place!! by maddy61203
We have been to Uwharrie numerous times, mostly bringing the boat!! We normally camp lakeside and it has been truely amazing. We have been camping, hiking, boating, etc...We have never had any problems. We did see a diamondback rattlesnake, just pay close attention to where you are going!!
April 17 We love it!!
Uwharrie offers something for everyone. Awesome off-roading trails and good campsites. My kids love it too.

i live about 15 minutes from the park. i commute to charlotte for work. i have never heard of a disappointed visit to the park. hiking, camping (civilized or not), biking (motorized or not), 4WD trails, boating, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, shooting range, bird watching, there is so much more. i use the park on a regular basis and highly recommend anyone visiting. whether it is a day trip, a weekend or a two week vacation, the only thing you will not do is see it all. there are many smaller parks and activities in the immediate area and alot of friendly people everywhere you go. :)
December 25 Great experience by bluegirl
This is the place for families of all types. Remember to be careful or bring extra tires.
May 20 Great Times! by Red
Uwharrie is the best place for camping and off-roading that we have found in the Carolinas! Most definitely recommended if you love hiking, camping, and off-roading trips.
