Traverse City State Park features a quarter mile of beautiful beach on the Grand Traverse Bay. The park is only two miles from downtown Traverse City, one of the most popular resort towns in Michigan. The campground is open year round with heated restrooms.
The park was established in 1920 on about 16 acres of land after the logging industry in the area began to wane. In 1921 and 1939, parcels were added to increase the park's land area to its present size. The original inhabitants of the land were the Ottawa branch of the Algonquin Indians.

January 7 Beautiful Rustic Style Campground by JD & Jan, Howell, Mi

We have been coming to and staying in our motorhome at the Traverse City State Park for several years. Love it up there. People are friendly and the beach and swimming area is A-1. East Bay has a wonderful sandy bottom, no weeds growing, and has a long, very gradual depth increase. Will be on the computer in 12 hours making our reservation for 2011 and hope to get our regular spot. Happy camping to everyone.
July 29 mosquitos...and lots of them by Ralph

We camped there in July of 2010 and the bugs were so bad you could not sit outside.
Will not be going back.
July 10 One of our favorite!!

We went to Traverse City for Cherry Fest this summer, it was a great time! They have tons of stuff do and it is all a great time. We stayed at the Traverse City State Park and it was wonderful. Very close to downtown, the festival, and the beach is right across the street. The bath houses were cleaned daily, they were not bad- I have seen worse! We will be coming back again, maybe this summer of 2011, but next summer for sure!
February 18 Close to Town by National Park Lover

As a base camp for wine touring this campground offers the fastest route to breakfast at The Omelette Shop and off to Mission and Leelanau Pennisula wine tours. Found the Mini Cabins to be gems in the somwhat rough camping sites that had bare ground and many pine needles to sneek into the other campers tents. Be aware the campground is alongside the busiest road day and night in Traverse City if traffic noise is bothersome to you.
