Park Visitor: Comments, Memories and Reviews
January 28 Fun place to visit by Jack Wendleton
We had a most enjoyable time here. It was a surprise. The volunteers and craftspeople were wonderful, and very generous with their skills and knowledge. Betty Brecht, the violinist, the spinners, weavers and, especially, the blacksmith all had wonderful presentations. We enjoyed watching a nail being made.
August 31 Great Park! Lousy Hospitality at Best.
We have stayed in dozens of state and national parks, and this one by far is one of the coolest, the people some of the rudest. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the RV site we stayed at. The Carillon Tower had no tour or person on duty, though there were very expensive artifacts and historic pieces there. We went to the museum and enjoyed the exhibits there until the old lady watching the place chewed out two of my kids for standing by the fern plant and accused them of breaking it, which they could not have because I was watching them and saw no such thing. This woman was very rude, and very southern. The young man in charge of the camps was not very hospitable, either. Just be warned this is run by deep South folks with an odd sense of Southern hospitality.
