SKY POND STATE FOREST
Sky Pond State Forest is a breathtaking natural haven nestled in the picturesque landscape of New Hampshire. This enchanting forest boasts an awe-inspiring display of natural beauty, with its lush greenery, towering trees, and crystal-clear ponds that seem to reflect the heavens above. As sunlight filters through the dense canopy, it casts an ethereal glow on vibrant wildflowers that carpet the forest floor. Tranquil trails wind their way through this majestic wilderness, inviting adventurous souls to immerse themselves in the serenity of the surroundings while captivating wildlife dances and flutters around every corner. Enchanting and captivating all who visit, Sky Pond State Forest is a haven where nature and tranquility intertwine to create an idyllic escape.
History of the Area
In the 1930s, the forest was owned by a private company called the Sky Pond Corporation. They established a reservoir in the area by constructing an earthen dam across a small stream to create a pond. This reservoir was intended for recreational purposes such as fishing, boating, and swimming.

However, the corporation faced financial difficulties and eventually went bankrupt. The State of New Hampshire acquired the property in 1949, thus becoming Sky Pond State Forest. It was designated a state forest to manage and protect the natural resources of the area.

The forest has been utilized for various recreational activities. There are several hiking trails that wind through its woodlands, offering visitors opportunities for outdoor exploration and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Additionally, the pond itself is still open for fishing and boating, attracting anglers and water enthusiasts.
