Rough River Dam is surrounded by rolling countryside overlooking a 5,000 acre lake. Some of the finest fishing in the state is to be found in the deep waters of Rough River. Non-anglers can enjoy the lake on a pontoon, or scurry across quickly on water skis or jet skis.

The beautiful 18-hole Lafayette Golf Course is just a couple miles from the park. Play disc golf on the new 18-hold lakeside course. Enjoy the history and folklore of the area with a trip to the Pine Knob Theatre, offering outdoor dramas from June to September.

For secluded comfort, relax in a cozy cottage. Seventeen two-bedroom cottages are located in wooded areas near the lake. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linens are provided with fresh linens available daily.

Open year-round. Cottages are available by late afternoon. Check-out by 1000 AM.
Lodge
Rough River Dam State Resort Park is one of the highlights of the Rough River Lake area, and is convenient to Louisville, Elizabethtown and Evansville. The park features 40 lodge rooms with private patios or balconies and 17, two-bedroom cottages. Rooms are available by late afternoon. Lodge room check-out by 1100 a.m., local time.
Meeting Rooms
For contemporary meeting facilities enjoy the Falls of Rough Room in the lodge. This room can be utilized as a conference or banquet-style facility with seating for 400 guests.

The Grayson and Breckinridge rooms seat 125 guests each.

Swimming
A pool is available for lodge and cottage guests. Or enjoy the gentle waves of Rough River Lake on the public beach, serviced with a bathhouse.

Boating
Rough River Lake is the perfect location for the water sports enthusiast. The marina offers 121 open slips, 29 open houseboat slips, 48 covered slips, a launching ramp, and pontoon boat rentals.

Open May - October.
Fishing
The avid angler will delight in the abundance of largemouth, white, and Kentucky bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and rough fish.

Picnicking
Tables, grills, and playgrounds are located throughout the park and a picnic shelter near the beach is available for rental up to two years in advance.
Bicycling
Cycling enthusiasts should note that the park offers no designated biking trails. It's crucial to exercise caution while cycling here.

The roads within this state resort are open for bicycling, but they're shared with motor vehicles - stay alert always.

Riding on hiking trails is not permitted; cyclists must stick to paved areas and roadways only in order to ensure safety.

Remember, helmets are highly recommended when riding a bicycle as it can significantly reduce risk of serious injury during accidents.

There aren't any bike rental facilities available onsite so visitors need bring their own equipment if planning on pedaling around.

Lastly, respect wildlife by keeping distance and avoid disturbing them whilst enjoying your ride through nature's beauty.
Trails
Folklore Trail - A 0.7-mile looped trail. Self-guided interpretive trail, providing the hiker with a view of an old pioneer cabin along trail.

Lake Ridge Trail - 1 mile, natural trail, travels along shoreline of lake, links lodge-cottage and marina, bird watching available along trail along with scenic views of lake.

The Army Corps of Engineers maintain a self-guided interpretive trail on federal land adjacent to the park.
Birding
There are great locations for birding throughout the park, like the Lake Ridge Nature Trail, the wooded areas near the campground, from the back patio of the lodge down towards the lake, and the open meadows near the lodge.

Pine Knob Theatre - Classic Shows Under the Stars

The Pine Knob Theatre is located 14 miles south of Rough River Dam Resort. The outdoor amphitheater was built in 1987 along with a 50s Diner in the historic Pine Knob Community. Four shows rotate - Dock Brown, Hoodoo, LARD, and T-BIRD. Performances are presented live on stage.

June through September, starting at 8 PM CT. Reservations are not required except for large groups. Call 270-879-8190.

Directions
The resort is on KY 79. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit on KY 79 north from Caneyville or exit on KY 259 N at Leitchfield and travel to the park via KY 54 from Leitchfield. Driving south, take KY 79 south from Hardinsburg and US 60.
Airport
Aviators can pitch a tent and camp near their aircraft at the airport air camp. The air camp has a central service building with showers and restrooms. Rate is $10.00 per night and no advance reservations are needed. The park has a 3,200 foot paved and lit airstrip with tie downs. Aviation fuel not available. Open year-round.
