Camp beside the lake or relax in one of cozy cabins. Raymond Gary State Park is a great place to unwind and explore the beauty of southeastern Oklahoma.



This park is located in southeast Oklahoma on the shores of Raymond Gary Lake. The lake offers fishing, boating and swimming. Camping and picnic facilities are available, and include RV sites, tent sites, group pavilions, comfort stations with showers, a playground, swim beach and cabin rentals. Unlighted boat ramps provide access to the lake, and an ADA accessable fishing dock is also on site. Paddleboats, canoes and jon boats are available for rental. Cabin rates $55 and under.
History of the Area
Established in 1955, the park is located in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. It's named after Raymond Gary, a former state governor. The area spans over 263 acres and features Lake Raymond Gary which was created by damming Sandy Creek for recreational fishing purposes.

The lake covers about half of the total acreage at approximately 155 acres with an average depth of eight feet. Over time it has become popular among anglers due to its abundant fish population including catfish and bass species.

In addition to fishing opportunities, visitors can enjoy boating activities as well as picnic spots equipped with tables and grills scattered throughout the site.

Overnight accommodations were added later on featuring RV sites along with tent camping areas plus cabins available for rent year-round offering scenic views overlooking Lake Raymond Gary.

Today this destination continues attracting outdoor enthusiasts providing them various amenities such as playgrounds or hiking trails while preserving local wildlife habitats within its boundaries.

Swimming
1. Raymond Gary State Park offers a designated swimming area in Lake Raymond Gary.
2. Lifeguards are not provided, so swim at your own risk.
3. Swimming is free with park admission.
4. The lake's sandy beach provides easy access to the water for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
5. Picnic tables near the swimming area offer places to rest or eat between swims.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is a boat ramp available, allowing guests to bring their own boats and enjoy the lake's open waters. Paddleboats are also available for rent if you prefer something more leisurely or don't have your own watercraft. Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of the fishing dock as well as two heated docks that allow year-round angling opportunities.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a serene lake setting, with options for bank or boat angling. Species include catfish, bass and crappie.

Raymond Gary State Park offers picnic tables, grills for BBQs, and a pavilion available on rent for larger gatherings.
Trails
1. Lake Loop Trail: This is a 2-mile trail that circles Raymond Gary Lake, offering beautiful views of the water and surrounding wildlife.

2. Forest Pathway: A shorter route at just under a mile long, this pathway winds through dense forest areas within the park.

3. Birdwatcher's Walk: At approximately half-a-mile in length, this walk provides ample opportunities for bird watching with several species native to Oklahoma spotted frequently here.

4. Fishing Pier Access Route: While not strictly a hiking trail, it's about quarter-of-a-mile path leading from parking area down to fishing pier on lake shore; suitable for casual walkers or those looking forward to some angling time after their hike.

5. Picnic Area Connector Trails: These are small trails connecting various picnic spots throughout the state park - they vary in distance but none exceed more than half-a- mile each way.

6. Park Perimeter Hike: For serious hikers seeking longer distances, this roughly five miles loop follows along boundary lines of entire State Park providing diverse landscapes including forests, lake view, and open fields.

7. Campground Link Trail: Approximately one-third-of-a -mile, this short connector links main campground site with rest part of networked trails making it easy access point for campers who wish explore around.

8. Wildflower Way: A seasonal delight during springtime when wildflowers bloom across landscape, it stretches over two-miles showcasing vibrant flora fauna found within region.

9. Nature Interpretive Track: this less-than-half--mile track features informational signs explaining local ecosystem, making educational experience as well recreational activity especially suited families children interested learning nature while enjoying outdoor adventure.
Birding
Located in Oklahoma, the park offers birding opportunities with species like woodpeckers and waterfowl. Birdwatching trails are available.
