Quinnipiac River State Park is a tranquil, 323-acre park known for its lush greenery and serene river views. It offers opportunities for fishing, bird watching, hiking trails through the woods along the Quinnipiac River's banks. The park also features diverse wildlife including various species of birds making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts or those seeking peace away from city life.
History of the Area
Located in North Haven, Connecticut, the park spans 323 acres. It was established as a state property in 1948. The area is named after the Quinnipiac tribe who originally inhabited it. Known for its diverse wildlife and habitats, it offers opportunities for fishing and bird watching.

The land has undergone significant restoration to protect local species since being damaged by industrial pollution during the early twentieth century.

Passes
Connecticut has made state parks, forests, trails, historic sites and beaches more accessible to our residents so they can enjoy the many attractions and beauty they offer. Under the Passport to the Parks program, parking fees are now eliminated at Connecticut State Parks for those with Connecticut registered vehicles. Trails
- Blue Trail: This trail is approximately 7 miles long, offering a moderate hike with views of the Quinnipiac River and surrounding woodland.

- Red Circle Trail: A shorter route at around 2 miles in length, this easy-to-moderate path winds through mixed hardwood forest.

- Yellow Rectangle Trail: Approximately 3.5 miles long, it offers hikers an opportunity to explore diverse habitats including wetlands and forests.

- White Square Loop: At about one mile in total distance, this loop provides a quick but scenic walk along the river's edge.

- Orange Triangle Pathway: An intermediate level hiking trail that stretches for roughly four miles across varied terrain featuring both open fields and dense woods.

- Green Diamond Route : It spans over five kilometers providing picturesque landscapes of marshes teeming with wildlife species such as herons or turtles.

- Purple Hexagon Track : Covering nearly six kilometres ,this track takes you on an adventure through lush greenery where deer sightings are common .

-Brown Oval Walkway : Spanning just under three km,this pathway gives visitors stunning panoramic view points overlooking Connecticut's natural beauty .

Directions
Directions from New Haven, Connecticut:

- Start on Church Street towards Grove St.
- Turn right onto George St.
- Continue straight to stay on George St.
- Take a slight left turn onto Martin Luther King Jr Blvd/State Hwy 745
- Use the middle lane to take the ramp for I91 N toward Hartford/Springfield
- Merge with I91 N and continue for about 3 miles

From Wallingford, Connecticut:

- Begin at US5 S/N Colony Rd heading southward
- Make a U-turn at Beaumont Ave/River Road intersection back into North Colony Rd/US5N direction
- After approximately half mile make another U-turn via Quinnipiac street junction returning again in Southbound direction of River road / Route150.

From Hartford, Connecticut:

- Begin on I91 S towards New Haven
- Take exit 8 for Middletown Ave toward North Haven
- Turn right onto Foxon Blvd/US202 W/Middletown Ave. Continue to follow US202 W.
