Peebles Island State Park is at the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. It offers spectacular river and rapids views for walkers and joggers who take advantage of the miles of paths through the gently rolling and wooded landscape. Picnickers and fishermen come to relax and winter visitors use the facilities to cross-country ski, hike and snowshoe.

Peebles Island is also the headquarters of the Bureau of Historic Sites and Bureau of Historic Preservation Field Services. The staff provide technical services, such as record maintenance, analysis of artifacts, and preparation of publications, exhibits and audio visual programs for the 35 historic sites maintained by State Parks. The Field Services Bureau assists all New York's municipalities and citizens with National Register of Historic Place listings, investment tax credit and review of all state and federal projects.
Boating
The park, located at the confluence of Hudson and Mohawk Rivers, offers a variety of boating options. Canoeing and kayaking are popular activities due to calm waters surrounding the island. However, there aren't any boat rental facilities within the park itself - visitors need to bring their own equipment or rent from nearby vendors outside the park premises.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing in the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers, where you can catch species like bass, pike, perch or catfish. Anglers may also encounter walleye and carp during their trip. Remember to bring your own gear as rentals are not available on-site.

Location
Peebles Island State Park is located near Albany, Ballston Lake and Ballston Spa

Picnicking
Peebles Island State Park offers picnic tables and grills for visitors. Enjoy scenic views of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers while picnicking.
Bicycling
While biking is not explicitly prohibited, there are no designated cycling trails. Be mindful of hikers and wildlife.

The park's terrain can be challenging for cyclists due to uneven surfaces and steep inclines in certain areas.

Cyclists should stick to the main roads within the park as off-road biking could potentially damage natural habitats.

Biking at night isn't recommended because lighting around the park is minimal, posing a safety risk after sunset.

Remember that helmets are required by law for riders under 14 years old; it's advisable for all ages though.

Please note: during winter months or inclement weather conditions, bicycling may become hazardous due to icy paths.
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 170 species recorded. It's home to waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Birdwatchers can explore various habitats including woodlands, meadows and riverbanks. The island is also a significant stopover for migratory birds during spring and fall seasons.
