The O'Bannon Woods State Park (formerly Wyandotte Woods State Recreation Area) lies in the central and extreme southern part of the state, bordering the Ohio River. It is nestled inside the 26,000 acre Harrison Crawford State Forest, but is managed separately along with Wyandotte Caves State Recreation Area. Located near the park is the Corydon Capitol State Historic Site. Built entirely of limestone, visitors will learn about early Indiana history as they tour the beautiful building.
Passes
State park permits can be purchased at any of the state park property locations across Indiana. State park permits can also be ordered online by visiting the INDINIA ENTRANCE FEE web page.

The area offers electrical campsites, as well as the Stagestop Campground, which offers primitive and youth camping. A canoe access ramp is also available at the Stagestop Campground.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. The Blue River, which flows through the park, is perfect for canoeing and kayaking with rentals available onsite. There are also several boat launches throughout the area that provide easy access to waterways suitable for motorized boats as well as non-motorized ones like rowboats or paddleboards.
Fishing
You can enjoy fishing in the Blue River, known for its smallmouth bass and catfish. The park's Wyandotte Lake is stocked with channel catfish, bluegill and largemouth bass. Fishing requires a valid Indiana license.

Picnicking
O'Bannon Woods State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills. Some sites also have shelters for larger gatherings.
Bicycling
For biking enthusiasts, the park offers a challenging 24-mile mountain bike trail. Be prepared for steep climbs and descents.

The Adventure Hiking Trail is also open to bikers but be warned - it's rugged terrain can prove tough even for experienced riders.

A more leisurely option is the paved Ohio River Greenway which runs along the riverfront offering scenic views.

Remember that helmets are mandatory on all trails within this location due to safety concerns.

Always check local weather conditions before setting out as some paths may become hazardous in adverse weather.

Be aware of wildlife encounters while cycling; maintain distance and respect their space at all times.

Lastly, ensure you have adequate water supplies with you during your ride because hydration stations might not always be available or accessible throughout your journey.

Birding
The park offers birding opportunities with over 100 species of birds to spot, including hawks and warblers. Birdwatchers can enjoy the diverse habitats like hardwood forests, wetlands and riverbanks. The area is also part of a migratory path for many avian species.
