As its name implies, Medicine Rocks was a place of ?big medicine' where Indian hunting parties conjured up magical spirits. ?As fantastically beautiful a place as I have ever seen,' said one of its first tourists in the late 1800's, a young rancher named Teddy Roosevelt. Weathering has given the soft sandstone rock formations a Swiss-cheese look. The park is also a haven for mule deer, antelope, and sharp tailed grouse. This unique park is 320 acres in size and is at an elevation of 3,441 feet. There are approximately 12 camping sites with vault toilets, a group use area, grills/firerings, picnic tables, and drinking water. Campers may stay 14 days during a 30 day period. Two golf courses and a museum are located nearby in Baker and there is also a museum in Ekalaka. Due to its primitive park designation, it is a pack-in/pack-out site and there are no fees to enter or stay there.

March 13 Great Rocks by Susan Davis
park review stars; one to five Went out of my way to visit this park and glad I did. Not many people but lots of photogenic rocks. Plenty of camping spaces. Wandered around for hours and then chatted with park employee on the way out who recommended tasting the water from the pump at the entrance. It was delicious.
September 4 out in middle of nowhere
park review stars; one to five Came upon this park by accident trying to take a shortcut to South Dakota. Stopped did leave money in the suggestion box and found the formations fascinating. More people should hear about this may even bring more traffic on this desolate highway.
