LOGHRY STATE PARK
Loghry State Park is a picturesque natural oasis, boasting lush greenery and diverse wildlife. It offers visitors various recreational activities including hiking, camping, bird-watching and picnicking. The park's serene environment makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers seeking tranquility away from the city bustle.
Established in 1950, the park is located in California's Mendocino County. It spans over 700 acres of coastal land.
The area was initially inhabited by Pomo Native Americans before European settlers arrived during the Gold Rush era.
In honor of John Loghry, a local lumberman and philanthropist who donated much of the land, it received its name.
It became popular for recreational activities such as hiking and bird-watching due to diverse flora and fauna found within its boundaries.
A campground was added in 1963 which further increased visitation rates from both locals and tourists alike.
Over time conservation efforts have been implemented to protect endangered species residing there like Coho Salmon or Northern Spotted Owl.
