The dam channels water from the Rio Grande for irrigation in the Mesilla Valley. Nearby Fort Selden State Monument has a museum and trails at the site of a 19th century army outpost.

April 12 Nicely Kept State Park by Cheyenne
Nice Facilities. Well kept, with a small ranger office on site. Electric and water, with plently of hiking. Beautiful area. Just in the outskirts of Las Cruces.
December 31 Very poor power supply
The power was so low you had to use only one thing at a time. Could not have the water heator on electric as it would drop the power below 108 Volts. 30 Amp plug very lose and wore out! We stayed 12-30-2012 Water/ elec. for $14.00 (ok) will Not be back!
April 9 nice place to visit by happy camper
