Lake St. George State Park is located 16 miles west of Belfast and 25 miles west of Augusta on the northwest shore of the beautiful Lake St. George. State Route 3 ran parallel and close to the lake, which was originally part of a farmstead. The centerpiece of the park is Lake St. George itself. Some of the park's campsites are located right on the shoreline where a morning cup of coffee can be enjoyed while watching the sun rise over the crystal clear water.

Loons are frequent visitors and their signature call can often be heard at night. The lake is 1,017 acres and numerous undeveloped islands dot the main basin of the lake. Fishing for landlocked salmon and brook trout is a popular sport, and visitors can rent canoes or boats to explore the park's undeveloped shoreline.

The day-use area is a short walk from the camping area where picnic tables and grills are available close to the beach. A lifeguard is on duty. The day-use area has swings, volleyball, basketball, and a sandpit where younger children play. Three to five miles of hiking trails are within walking distance from the campground.

July 7 Refreshing! by Maine Lover
We happened upon this lake just by chance as we were traveling back roads. The grounds were clean except for some smelly goose poop. The bath house was clean and spacious. The lake itself was most refreshing! Great place for kids and adults alike. Lots of shade and plenty of picnic areas for those wanting to spend the day.
September 28 A bit loud from traffic
The campsites and facilities are great, but the highways is right there and the trucks are really loud.

Finally! A brand new bath house! This park is almost perfect, now. We spend many hours in season here camping and picnic-ing with our friends even though we live right around the corner.
July 18 Perfect for kids by mom in Maine!
This park is wonderful for each one of my 5 children. There is a playground for the younger ones with sand to play in, there is a choice of the shaded water area or the more open beach feeling spots. both are equally beautiful. The Bathrooms can be seen by any spot on shore wich is another plus if travelling as a family. My only warning would be to know that untill your in deeper water the bottom is very rocky,I would bring water shoes!!
July 17 Price is Good and Place is clean by Heather
