Anglers will find the relatively shallow waters of 640-acre Lake Poinsett, nestled atop the rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge in northeast Arkansas, a special getaway for crappie, catfish, bream and bass fishing. Situated on the northern end of this Arkansas Game and Fish Commission lake, the state park offers 29 campsites (4 Class A, 22 Class B and three Class D), picnic areas, a standard pavilion (screened with restrooms), boat launch ramp, boat rentals and interpretive programs. Near the picnic area is ample room for impromptu softball games. A children's playground is located between the picnic area and campground.

Activities offered by park interpreters include trail walks, guided kayak and canoe tours, birding and watchable wildlife excursions, Dutch oven cooking workshops, fishing derbies, and more.

History of the Area
Established in 1963, the park is located on Lake Poinsett's western shore. It spans over 135 acres and includes a campground.

The lake was created by Arkansas Game & Fish Commission between 1950-57 for recreational fishing purposes.

In addition to camping facilities, it offers boat rentals and picnic areas since its inception.

It underwent significant renovations in late '90s adding modern amenities like hot showers while preserving natural beauty of surroundings.

A tornado damaged much of the area including visitor center in March 2020 but has been largely restored now.
