Eagle Island is a 545-acre day-use park west of Boise that features a popular swimming beach, a grassy picnic area, a waterslide and more than five miles of trails for those looking for a place to ride horses, hike, walk your dog, or play disc golf.
Swimming
1. Eagle Island State Park offers a sandy beach for swimming.
2. The park has a designated swim area in the lake, perfect for families and children.
3. Lifeguards are not always on duty; visitors should exercise caution when swimming.
4. Swimming is only allowed during daylight hours to ensure safety of all swimmers.
5. There's also an option to rent paddleboards or kayaks near the swim area at seasonal rental shops within the park.
6. The water slide located inside this state park adds more fun options after your refreshing dip into its waters.
7. Picnic areas nearby allow you to relax and enjoy meals post-swimming activities.
Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is a designated swimming area with lifeguards on duty during the summer months, and non-motorized watercraft such as canoes, kayaks or paddleboards are allowed in this section. For those interested in fishing, there's also access to two freshwater ponds stocked with rainbow trout where you can use small boats without motors.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing in two freshwater ponds, home to rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Fishing gear rentals are available on-site.

The park offers ice-fishing during winter months for an adventurous experience catching fish beneath the frozen surface of the pond.

Families can participate in a fun-filled day at kids' fishing events held throughout summer where equipment is provided free-of-charge.

Remember that all anglers aged 14 or older must have a valid Idaho fishing license before casting their lines.

Picnicking
Eagle Island State Park offers picnic areas with tables and grills, perfect for family outings. Reservable shelters are also available.
Bicycling
Visitors can enjoy a 5-mile paved trail, perfect for biking. However, be aware it's shared with pedestrians.

Mountain bikers should note that off-road trails are not available within the park boundaries.

The path is relatively flat and suitable for all skill levels but always remember to wear safety gear.

During winter months or after heavy rainfalls, parts of the bike paths may become inaccessible due to flooding conditions.

Children under 14 must have adult supervision when cycling in this area; helmets are required by law.

Please respect other users' space on multi-use pathways - slow down near walkers and horse riders.

Bike rentals aren't provided at the location so visitors need to bring their own bicycles.

Remember: Biking hours follow general park timings which vary seasonally - check before your visit!
Birding
The park offers a variety of birding opportunities with over 100 species to spot. Birdwatchers can observe waterfowl, songbirds and raptors in diverse habitats including wetlands, grasslands and cottonwood forests. The best times for bird watching are during spring migration or winter when bald eagles visit the area.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
July 25 a wonderful place to visit by Elaine Bale
park review stars; one to five On July 24 we had a family gathering. There were families from Calf, & Wash here as well as locally. We needed to fill water balloons, & the park rangers opened a closet for us to fill them, & returned later to check to see if we needed to fill more. They also helped another member of our group to put the stakes in the ground for a game to of horseshoes. The East shelter was reserved for the day by us, & when group of people came in & tried to take over the shelter the park rangers took care of that quickly & with professional respect towards both groups. Thank you Eagel Island Park Rangers for a wonderful day!
