 | Acquisition: The lake was built in 1953.
Area Description: The area is an 84 acre lake and is surrounded by 113 acres of Flint Hills prairie ( Cowley Wildlife Area). Water quality of the lake is excellent. Fish species include channel catfish, bluegill, redear sunfish, walleye, and crappie . |

Fishing Population:Channel Catfish, Crappie, Flathead Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Bluegill, Black Bullhead, Green Sunfish, Redear Sunfish
Special Features: Facilities at the lake include a boat ramp, fishing dock, fish cleaning station, earthen fishing piers, pet toilets, and picnic tables. Camping is allowed. Vehicle access is limited to the north side of the lake.
Hunting is allowed on the lake ( Cowley State Fishing Lake) and its surrounding 113-acres. Although the area is small, hunters have some success on quail, rabbits, and squirrel. Deer hunting opportunities exist mostly on the west and east ends of the area in wooded sections. Waterfowl numbers are fair to good on the lake. Many nongame species are also present on the area for bird watching and photography. |
