Situated on the shores of Enid Lake, George Payne Cossar State Park is a sportsman's paradise. Most of the land around the lake and in nearby Holly Springs National Forest is open for public hunting, and is abundant in variety of game. Hunters are not the only sportsmen who will find their quarry in the area. The world record crappie, weighing in at over five pounds, was pulled from the waters of Enid Lake. These excellent hunting and fishing opportunities, combined with a variety of recreational opportunities and scenic natural beauty, make George Payne Cossar State Park the perfect family vacation spot.

September 22 A pleasant surprise
Just spent a quiet weekend here. Cabin was clean, roomy and had basic kitchen equipment. We fed inquisitive deer apples and watched a skunk steal our cricket box off the patio. Only downside was the lake level was low and the shoreline was very muddy, but the surroundings were lovely.

substandard facility would sum it up for me . had a week booked and left 2 days early , due to the drunks next door and restaurant closed 2 years ago , no ramps useable in Park. Asked to get bed linens changed and they said they did not usually do that no matter how long your stay was . I have stayed in State Parks in numerous states and this was by far the worst . I hope the state gets some funding to make some improvements and updates here .
December 29 A MISSISSIPPI BARGAIN
A great retreat and affordable for all. Walking trails, wildlife, lakes and peaceful setting for the price of a hotel room.

March 12 Love this Park by concerned
I have lived in Oakland for 35 years. I have spent all my life going to Cossar Park. If it closes it will be like loosing a part of my childhood. I also take my children there now. I pray for it to stay open and continue serving our community.
