April 5 1st Camping/Cabin experience- GREAT! by MobileMounts
Our 1st camping adventure and it was great. Would be nice if some things were updated (linens, beds, kitchen cookware, etc., but all in all was just perfect. Cabin was clean, leaves blown/raked for our arrival. Park rangers and staff very nice.
December 2 Great Weekend by BSA Troop 209 - Gulfport, MS
Boy Scout Troop 209 invaded the primitive camping area for a weekend. Great stay! Hiking, Frisbee Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and great weather. Enjoyed night hike to observation tower.
February 11 Great Park
Great quit getta way..
January 24 Great primitive camping! by Johnathan
My fiance and I stayed here last spring and are returning this spring for primitive camping. The tent sites are nice and far apart we stayed on a site that was water front. The fire pits are nice, but make sure to bring your own wood because all the good sticks and dry wood have already been pillaged! The nature trails are real nice but some of the branching harder trails are overgrown and had downed trees in the paths that appeared to have been there since Katrina. The lake and fishing were nice but need restocking. Overall a great experience and will return!
May 31 Camping sites are very hard to enter-- by Don
No turning room for larger campers----areas around pads are washed out and can be dangerous. Very hard to manuver campers larger than 18 ft.
May 5 Great Family Outting or Reunion by Sheneka
We recently visited Clarkco State Park for a family reunion and it was great. The pavillions were large and close to the water and playground. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The restrooms could have been cleaner.
March 17 restless by hopeless
Only complaints are TV reception and the beds are not comfortable at all
March 16 Great time in 2010 by Fun Family
Family stayed in 2 cabins. Enjoyed being close together for the weekend. Enjoyed the fishing, but lake needs restocking. The cabins could use some raking around the doors so we could see any snakes. We did see 1 around our cabin the day we were leaving. Hopefully we will be returning this year for another fun weekend of fishing and just good old family togetherness.
March 1 Exciting Family Fun and Entertainment by Allen - Stonewall, MS
great little get-a-way just a few miles down the road. Great place to take your family for food, fun, and alittle R & R. We have stayed in both the cabins and pulled the camper and have had wonderful experiences everytime. so proud we have a place like this in clarke county mississippi. Also if this park is full I also reccomend Archusa Creek Water Park as well. both of these location have beautiful views and nature the whole family can enjoy.
February 12 my favorite park by vernella

January 21 Has anyone been in a cabin recently? by CabinSeeker
I was just wondering the current condition of the cabins. No TV channels I can deal with but filth and bug, I can not. Any input would be appreciated.
January 10 One or our favorite parks by Andi Chauvin
We have been meeting our Georgia friends at this state park for several years and have had wonderful experiences! We are headed here for MLK weekend and are looking forward to another spectacular time!
July 26 Great location
My family and I went last year in October, and it was wonderful. Outstanding location, beautiful scenery, right on the lake. Overall it was great. Some posters have complained about the lack of tv reception, etc. To which I would say, you are at a state park; get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
July 20 The worst experience of my life by Very horrified
My family and I went to Mississippi for a family reunion. We were staying in the cabins since our relatives invited us. When we arrived there were dead centipedes in both bathrooms. Cabins were in need of major updates. My family members ended up sleeping in chairs, on the couch, and even in the vehicles. When we tried to get our money back they only gave us a voucher like someone would want to come back. this experience has given me a new look at the state of MS.
July 18 Worst experience ever!
We thought we were in for a great weekend until we got into the cabin. There were dead bugs everywhere and it smelt like mold and filth. In the other cabin there were LIVE centipedes everywhere: In the shower, on the walls, all over the floor, IN THE BED. We were required to make a 3 day MINIMUM reservation and only stayed one day and left! The TV had no channels whatsoever. The beds were had, the comforters had tears in them. There was nothing pleasant about this experience. Oh yeah AND NO REFUND.
July 2 Not What I Expected by Ms. Disappointed
This was not a good experience for me. The TV only had 5 channel(2 were the same, 1 was cartoon network, and others had poor signal). Pots were dirty. Shower curtain and bath towels smell AWFUL. Pillows/bed were wore out & very uncomfortable. The chairs in cabin were dirty & wore out. The cabin need a SERIOUS upgrade & renovatation. I reserved the cabin for 2 nights but stayed 1 night. I went to nearest hotel for comfort. DID NOT GET MONEY BACK>>
June 14 thought it was a good park by unsatisfied visitor
took my family there last year an had a pretty good time but this year was not so great the trip started off ok but then went south after not catching but 1 fish in 2 days. lake might need to be restocked. the disc golf trails were so grew up you couldnt walk down them hardley. around the cabins were grew up also. the cabins are nice but could use a few things like maybe more than one t.v. maybe cable an some softer beds,o an did i mention getting dusted out by somebody mowing the dirt in front of our cabin completely covered the inside of my truck. i mean wheres the comin curtisy o an one last thing there needs to be some signs put up along the lake for no pets alowed in the water or swimming area period thanks an have a nice day...
June 10 We loved this park!!! by Kendra
We brought our pop up and stayed one night here on our way from TX to TN. Our three kids loved the splash pad and great playgrounds at the front of the park, as well as the small playground and swim area in the lake that were right behind our campsite#7. The lake stays pretty calm since larger motors are not allowed to run on the small lake. The park maintenance staff was SOOOO nice! The premium sites sit right on the water with about 100ft of land between you. The sites are all well shaded and spaced apart pretty well. We liked this park so much we decided to stop here on our way back to TX as well even though we had planned to try to get further on the first day. Next year we will be having our TN friends meet us here so we can stay the full week!!!
February 17 A wonderful experience by George McLaughlin
We had a terrific time at this park! The surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful. Our cabin (No. 1) is tucked away in the corner of the lake and there was absolutely nothing that distracted us from the beautiful scenery and the chance to enjoy our stay. My ONLY gripe is that the bathroom seems to have been built for WWII turret gunners! Too tight of a space! :) I would recommend this park to any of my friends, and will probably do so!
February 1 Beautiful Park
We spent 2 days here in January, 2010. It was quiet, beautiful and very restful. The roads are a bit small and hard to navigate at night and some of the sites would be difficult for a large rig. We stayed at number 16 and had our rv been any larger (23 foot), the tree that leaned over the road would have made the site inaccessible. Had power problems in the middle of the night and could find no-one to help us so we had to cut our trip short. The bathhouse is tiny and worn but serviceable. We will definitely be going back again.
September 29 The perfect family reunion park by Phillip Harris
the Doggetts have been gathering here every single year as far back as i can remember for our familiy reunion. the park staf are always very courtious and well providing. the grounds are clean and well maintained. A large diversity of different styles of camping are accomodated here from cabin dwellers to ruffing it with a bag and blanket.
September 21 Peaceful! by Whitney
Over this past weekend my family and I made a trip up there for a few days. Beautiful! I love it there and now my husband & I will be back for our 2 year anniversary!
August 21 Fun with the grandkids by Mobile AL
We have been bringing our 4 grandchildren to Clarcko every May for 5 years. We did skip 1 year and they were very disapointed. We love to bike around the park, hike the trails & fish. The addition of the water park is great! Everyone has always been so friendly and helpful. We look forward to the quality time with the grandkids every year.
July 25 Our favorite park by C. Hearn
We have be coming here for years. I come and bring my grand sons and we feel safe and it is clean, quiet. The only thing I have been disappointed in is Katrina messed up the walking trail, but it was better last year, we are on our way back in 2 wks and I can hardly wait.
June 5 GREAT FAMILY OUTING by Beverly Smih Richton, MS
We just visited Clarkco for the first time and had a very pleasant experience. It was very clean and well maintained. The atmophere was quiet and peaceful. Our 10-year old twins loved it too. We plan to visit again.
May 12 Nice park..... horrible attendents by DH
This example of horrible customer service will keep me from ever visiting again. From being treated like a criminal to a broken tv that no one would fix and spoiled food in the trash can in front of the cabin which no one emptied until we left. The first getaway from our kids turned out to be extremely disappointing due to the pure lack of caring about the people in the park.
April 7 GREAT by BRENDA (TAYLOR) ABSHIER
I WAS RAISED IN QUITMAN AND JUST NEVER KNEW HOW GREAT CLARKCO REALLY WAS. I NOW LIVE IN TEXAS AND ALONG WITH FRIENDS FROM MOBILE, AL HAVE COME TO LOVE THE PLACE. THIS MAY WILL BE OUR 3RD TIME TO STAY SINCE I LEFT QUITMAN AND ITS WONDERFUL. EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE ARE GREAT. ITS LIKE THE LIFE YOU ALWAYS DREAMED OF. WE HAVE BEEN TO OTHER PARKS IN MISS BUT WE KEEP COMING BACK TO CLARKCO. COME AND ENJOY
March 23 Great Family Time..... by Rhodes Family
My family and I have been coming to Clarkco for the past few years. I can not think of a more perfect place to spend some quality family time and excellent fishing together. Thank you for always making us feel so welcome here.
July 7 Wonderful park! by Joanna Posey
This was our first visit to Clarkco State Park. We loved it. The cabins we rented were roomy, well furnished and clean. The park was quiet, though every cabin was full and all rv hookups were full as well. The kids enjoyed riding bikes, fishing and the splash park was perfect for cooling down. We will definately be coming back!
May 28 Even our grandkids love it
We have been visiting this park when we could for about 35 years, and our kids and now our grandkids have very happy memories of this. We always rent a cabin and stay as long as we can get away.
