Chenango Valley State Park is an ice age wonder. Its two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes, and bog. Birdwatchers may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails and herons, ducks and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Campers can choose from among 216 campsites and 24 cabins and golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course. Ice skating, sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter.

The Edge Trail is Handicapped Accessible.

Bicycling
For biking enthusiasts, the park offers a variety of trails suitable for different skill levels. Be cautious on uneven terrain.

The two main bike paths are multi-use and shared with hikers. Always yield to pedestrians while riding.

One trail is relatively flat, perfect for beginners or those seeking an easy ride. Watch out for loose gravel though!

Another path provides more challenging rides due to its steep hills and sharp turns; it's recommended only for experienced bikers.

Mountain bikes can be rented from the park office if you don't have your own equipment but remember safety first!

Biking after dark isn't allowed so plan accordingly in order not to get caught out late at night.

Remember that helmets are required by law when cycling within this area - always prioritize safety over speed!

Lastly, respect nature during your visit: stay on designated routes and avoid disturbing wildlife whenever possible.
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 180 species recorded. It features two kettle lakes, wetlands and mixed forests attracting a variety of birds including waterfowl, songbirds and raptors. Birdwatchers can explore the five miles of nature trails or participate in guided tours during spring migration season.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
January 18 Canadian Secret by Canadian Campers
park review stars; one to five 2012 will be our third summer at the park , in a cabin we LOVE it and please remember that the cabin will only be as clean as the person before you left it.If everyone was considerate to the next person it would not be a problem. We are from \canada and this is our hidden secret. We are keeping to ourselves and not telling everyone about the little peace of heaven we have found.
August 22 BEST SWIMMING BUT FILTHY CABINS
park review stars; one to five My family of 5 rented a cabin #7 in August 2011 for a week. We have to spend more than 1 hour to sweep, clean the cabin. The wooden floor was full of dirt and spider webs are everywhere. On the contrary, the park is a very tranquil place with one of the best/clean swimming beaches. The pond is half barren with some fish. Be ware to bring your own heavy duty cleaning supplies including mop & wringer if you have young toddlers.
